Hey, I quite like curries - any going spare! :rotfl:

But to bring back on topic, we had an end of season plastic table for a dining room table for a while. Think it cost less than a tenner - other essentials such as, ahem, bed, fridge / freezer and washing machine taking priority when we were setting up our first house.

OMG that is how you spell it in Danish I must be loosing it. Never thought of the curry connection.

Living with garden furniture - yep done that myself. Just could not afford anything when we moved in and had already put all our essentials on credit cards.

Off again today for an overnighter, really don't feel like it and I have to leave about 10.30. Wish I had been away for 2 nights I think that had been better than having to go out again.

Never mind will be people I know at the hotel tonight so can't be that bad and I hear there are good shops in Birmingham where we are going to be.

    Better get on with it.

Ups not posted for 2 days thats bad. All is well here started dispute with Paypal about my Ebayer I have given her plenty of time now to pay up so thought it was about time I did that. Bought the items on the 16th was delivered on the 26th and we are now on the 13th September.

Cloakroom is nearly done in fact he had just got to fit the loo on Monday. Strange it is all done and he wont be coming back, have got quite use to him now.

Have family coming for dinner tonight. Not really my family but DH in a way. Its his brothers exgirlfriend with whom he has a child with coming together with her mum and sister. I last saw the child when she was 6 months old and she is now over 2. Sadly she is quite disabled CP, deaf and impaired vision. Look forward to see how she is getting on and the mum is really nice. They were together for 10 years, decided to try for a baby, last time they were together before they split up she fell pregnant. BIL is pretty horrid but nice to see the others. They live in South Africa which is why we don't get to see them. She is here with the child to learn how to do physio on her etc etc.

Doing a roast dinner all is prepared and ready and they arrrive in 1 hour so nice and relaxed really.

It was actually a really nice evening with BIL's ex, daugther, mum and sister. Nice to see the little girl again but to be 2 years old and not even be able to sit on your own is a bit sad. She cannot speak but babbles and although she has glasses she could follow what was going on she saw her gran come in from about 3 meter so it cant be that bad. The hearing is not that great but she did not have her hearing aids in so mum was use signs. Nice to have them down and I think they all understand now that we are not the biggest fans of BIL they are actually sure he has some form of mental illness. Well I agree. Also sad to hear that they can't do as much for disabled children in South Africa as here even if you pay. I think she is thinking about coming over here but I think that would be almost impossible to get a visa. We shall see as long as BIL don't decide to move I shall be fine.

Had a bit of a hangover on Sunday but went to see Fort Brockenhurst in Gosport. It was open for the Herritage Days and quite interesting to see it as it is usually closed for visitors. It is quite huge something you don't notice when you drive past it.

Mike is coming for the last time today to fit the loo and tidy up a few bits and that is it. IT IS DONE..... how scary is that. Will need to pay him the final bill and then can get back to clearing the money we had to borrow on the offset. Will update the finances later.

PS dinner was perfect so pleased I can cook a proper sunday lunch now.

  • Hi tallgirl

Just thought I'd stop by and say hi, I'm at home this afternoon with a rotten cold so for once I've got time to do some actual posts rather than my usual quick lurking:D .

Your bathrooms etc are looking fab and well worth all the effort you've put in sourcing the items you wanted.

I've just booked a holiday to Prague and used some reward points for the stay (would have cost £663 otherwise:eek: ) so I'm feeling pretty chuffed with that. Flights are with a low cost airline so all in all should be a cheap stay in a very lovely hotel:j
    Regards

Aww poor you Abouttimetoo I had feeling ill it is so horrid especially when you could be doing other things. But hey its Monday and you are not at work.

Thanks for the kind comments I am so pleased everything worked out for the bathrooms. Mike is gone now he will come back to fit the shower screen (being made to measure) and send his invoice. I will post a picture soon.

Prague is lovely have you been before? I went as part of an A-level school trip before the breakup. It was amazing would like to go back and see it now it is more opened up. The pubs and the beer are nice and everyting were so cheap when we went but that was in 1986 - gosh time goes so quickly. Hope you enjoy it.

  • No, I've not been before but I'm really looking forward to it as I've heard great things about it. My sister has been loads of times - think the first time she went was probably more than 10 years ago (before it was really popular) and she can remember the days where you could get a 10 course meal for 0.0000002p (slight exaggeration of course but you know what I mean lol).

I'm going with my mother who has been before and knows her way around so that wil be great too. Co-incidentally the hotel we are staying in is the one she stayed at before so it's also nice to know that we are handy for everything.

The only slight downside is that we had been fancying a bit of sun - not a beach holiday or anything but somewhere warm enough to sit outside over a coffee etc and the 10 day forecast for Prague is 'overcast/rainy and 5-15 degrees' brrrrrr. I did actually look at Rome and Barcelona (lurrrrrvvve Rome) but I had a really fixed window for dates that I could travel and it was all getting a bit complicated so Prague it is with the added bonus of free accomodation. Even nicer is that it is free in the truest sense of the word as although they are my reward points I've got them through business travel so I didn't pay for the hotel stays in the first place:j I've had the points (amongst others) for at least two years but my job entails that I usually live in hotels 3-4 nights a week so a) I never usually get a chance to use the points up and b) don't want to sound ungrateful but staying in a hotel is not therefore a treat for me - a treat for me is my own bed!

I've read in your posts about you booking your work accomodation through quidco etc and have been a bit envious as the way my company works there is no option to do that....

Haven't managed to even leave the house today as just not felt up to it - did work until 12 noon and then just downed tools as head not working:o

Aboutmetoo I totally agree with out about having to stay in hotels with work means they have to be pretty special to want to stay in one for a holiday. I also love my own bed. Shame you can't use Quidco to book them it is quite handy however just had to book for tonight in Bristol and nothing on Quidco so had to use Premier Inn. Want to go to Ikea so at least it is not far from there. I have about £130 coming to me soon mainly from Laterooms and Bookie signups.

Anyway hope you are feeling better today at least you now have a lovely holiday to look forward too. I would love to go on holiday with my mum but as she lives in Denmark she tends to come here or I go there would be nice just to go the two of us.

Well need to pack my bags and sort the hair out.

Forgot to say Ebay seller has been in touch she is offering me £7 which I have accepted. Not happy about her and will leave her negative feedback.
