I accept it as part of a holiday, I'm not sitting there moaning about it, or pulling out my own egg sandwiches that have been in a bag for the last 4 hours.

If you have you own food, don’t they take it off you at security?
Nope. Just liquids over 100ml and guns.
Flying from Birmingham or Edinburgh and they won't even confiscate liquids over 100ml anymore.

One day the rest of the UK airports will catch up.

We use Tui at least 4 times a year from Manchester airport.  There’s nothing free onboard the aircraft!  We take empty refillable bottles (which keep the water cold) and there’s stations at the airport outside all the loos airside which you can get water for free.

We never pre book food.  Depending on the time of day, I make my own sandwiches to eat either at the airport or onboard.  Alternatively, we quite like the toasties from Tui.  Around a £5 I think.  All drinks, hot, cold or alcoholic are chargeable.

i find the meal deals either from WHS or Boots far inferior to my own sandwiches and cheaper to make my own too.

Our flights are to the Canaries so considered short haul.  Usually around the 4 hour mark.

    Why do you think that?
    Totally incorrect.

The link to TUI website regarding food is up-thread.
Well I am not a frequent flyer, so something changes every time we travel.

Didn’t post incorrect info on purpose.

    You didn't post incorrect info.
You (sort of) asked a question to which the answer is 'no'.

Best place for all information regarding lights is on the airline website.

I'm a little amazed that someone with over 15k of posts on here could be so unsure of what happens!

Why does the number of posts on a moneysaving website make any difference to knowledge about an airline?

In the OP's position, I'd have gone straight to the airline's website.

We had a mantra at my department - "when all else fails, read the instructions" - seems appropriate !!! :)

Most of this thread could have been avoided had the OP looked at their website, tbf
If I could see anything relevant on the website I wouldn't have asked.  But thanks for your input.

And thanks to all - we had a marvelous time in Crete.

So yes = it was a narrow aircraft (forget what type) so no floor show other than the emergency instructions and a few drop down screens to chart the progress of the journey.  No headphones could be used as we had none that would fit our phones and our phones wouldn't work on board as there was no wifi.

The food on board was reportedly dreadful, i.e. slightly warmed toasties according to the people seated beside me.  In the end I had packed some sandwiches and packaged cakes, some we ate before departure and some on board (necessary to have something for the diabetic!)  Water was available to fill my water bottle after security at the UK airport but not the one in Crete.  So I did pay £5 for a 1litre bottle before boarding in Crete.  And having finished that thankfully the staff on board were good about supplying some extra when medication was unexpectedly required for the diabetic as well.

As I think I said I've only flown UK to Europe a very few times in the last 30 years whereas I do fly fairly regularly to Canada.  International flights are very different hence wanting to know from those who have experience rather than just guess based on the limited bits I could find on their website.

UK to Europe and UK to Canada are both international, so presumably you're looking to differentiate long-haul from short-haul, or maybe just different airlines?
