What's available on Tui flights?

OK so I suspected that you have to pay for your food on TUI flights and have just realised that they say you should prebook your meal.  So that's not happening as there isn't enough time.

But do they give you water for free??  I know there is bottled available at a cost.  Or should I buy some or fill up before boarding?

Also on their flights do they have any kind of entertainment/music?  No point in taking decent headphones if not.  Or do they charge for headsets?

I know there's a WHS at the airport but don't know if it's before or after security and presume they will have water, sandwiches for sale there if needed.

It might depend on how long the flight is, but I can share our experience flying with Tui to Greece last year and Morocco this year.

We didn't pre-book food and found some options had sold out on previous flights, but this might be less of an issue earlier in the day, not sure. The meals we did get were not bad for being done in an aircraft galley.

We took our own water as it was unclear if we would get free water. WHSmiths water was extortionate and we found a vending machine on the way to the gate that was cheaper.

There wasn't any kind of entertainment, so taking our own books, magazines and devices was a must.

It'll probably be worth clarifying your routing - I'm pretty sure that their offerings will be different between long haul and short haul....

Thanks so much - I'll not take the good headphones which will leave room for a book instead.  Must admit the last time I flew from this airport there was a newsagent (WHS?) where I bought a paper for £1 and got a bottle of water for free.  But that was about 15 years back or more.

As eskbanker remarked, the experience and inclusions will differ depending on if you are flying short haul or long haul.

We use Tui at least 4 times a year from Manchester airport.  There’s nothing free onboard the aircraft!  We take empty refillable bottles (which keep the water cold) and there’s stations at the airport outside all the loos airside which you can get water for free.

We never pre book food.  Depending on the time of day, I make my own sandwiches to eat either at the airport or onboard.  Alternatively, we quite like the toasties from Tui.  Around a £5 I think.  All drinks, hot, cold or alcoholic are chargeable.

i find the meal deals either from WHS or Boots far inferior to my own sandwiches and cheaper to make my own too.

Our flights are to the Canaries so considered short haul.  Usually around the 4 hour mark.

If you take a refillable water  bottle with you, you can top it up at the drinking fountains airside.

  • Why are you being so secretive? Which airport and where's the flight to?

Last two UK airports I flew out of had a free water fill station after security, take an empty water bottle with you.

They don't make it easy to find - they'd obviously much rather you paid WHS or Boots £2.50 for 200ml.

Got a half-decent smartphone or a tablet? Download programs to iPlayer app, or your streaming services' apps if you have the right subscriptions. Need some headphones, obvs.

Flight to canaries recently nothing free food or drink wise. Chips were like oven chips done too long in the oven. Cheese and ham toastie I quite liked but it was a bit like one toasted at 7am and you just turned up at 8am to eat it. Coffee was cheap Instant.

Cant remember the prices but not bad enough to swear out loud.

All ordered on the plane. Not even sure they still offered pre booked.

Service was with a smile, I enjoyed the flight.

TUI offer various snacks on short haul including a few hot choices
Only potential issue is seat location - if you are in front or rear areas there should be availability - maybe not so in middle by the time the trolly arrives.
Remember they don't take cash or some cards -  American Express, Diners' Club, Maestro, Electron, Solo, or prepaid cards are not accepted - regular Visa and Mastercard are good.
Nothing to prevent you taking your own sandwiches etc.

    Inflight menu - https://qrco.de/beoJTR
    Inflight duty free - https://qrco.de/beoJYK

Although as said if your flight is long haul the above drinks and food menu doesnt apply. Anything longer than Cape Verde is classed as long haul.

No, you dont get any freebies on short haul (although if you ask for a glass of water I suspect they will oblige). In the lucky event you are on a Dreamliner on short haul they charge for headphones, think was £3, but the narrow body planes dont have entertainment
