Had a quick vac around before our lunch guests arrived. The lunch went well; the stuffed pasta shells were nice and although the Mary Berry apricot pudding was also nice (especially the crunchy topping) it would have been better with 5 minutes less time in the oven than the 35 minutes specified in the recipe (but maybe my oven is hotter than the dial says). It was very quick and easy so I would do it again but take it out a little earlier. The meal generated the usual mountain of washing up but I did as much as I could as I went along, which helped.

On Thursday, my best friend, J, is coming to London from Manchester as she has a Tribunal hearing on Friday about a matter relating to her London flat. A couple of friends, W ad B, are coming over to look after A so that I can go to an exhibition with J ( only the second one I've been to this year). One of them will leave when I get back and the other will stay on for supper, as will J. I'm going to do baked stuffed pasta shells again but with a different filling (a lentil ragu). I will make the ragu in advance, and possibly cooked the pasta shells and keep them in the fridge ready to be filled when we get back. That way I shan't spend most of the time in the kitchen, as I did today, instead of talking to J and B. It's my birthday in a few days and W and B are coming back for that. 

Tomorrow the work starts on replacing our roof. I hope it's not too disruptive.
