Dusted the whole house (whoops, just realised that I forgot the DR), and vacuumed most of it. Bed remade. Bedding was drying nicely in the strong wind, until I took my eye off the weather, and hey presto - no rain for months, then a heavy short shower that drenched the dry washing and has curled my hair *sigh*.
Beans have been cooked / pickled. Another batch of hedgerow ketchup made - the last one. Plums sorted, and the very ripe ones cooked up with cinnamon. When more sugar rations arrive tomorrow I may make another batch of jam, assuming that I can rustle up enough jars. Lurking beetroots rescued from the bottom of the fridge and cooked. WUDUPA. Next stop - freezer tetris. I actually think that there is no room whatsoever in there.
We are out for a fundraising meal tonight. Personally I would like to slob in the armchair and watch tv but I am committed to going. At least it isn’t fancy and I will have shown my face.4 -
A few hours at my desk this morning and things are a bit more organised now, so I can consolidate a lot of research.A tumbling composter emptied into a bucket and the apples which it seems just won't rot down removed and put in the council garden waste bin, which means I can start filling up the now empty one. The other one needs to cook for a couple of week and it'll be ready to mix with some leafmould from a couple of years ago. Not sure where I want to spread it because it really is beautiful stuff.Despite a few of my tomato plants not really doing much we've ended up with so many I've had to cook a couple of batches in the microwave so I can freeze them. They taste amazing. Tomato plants hacked about a bit and more tomatoes picked, fed and watered.Builder came round exactly when he said he would and will give us a price to repair a wall that needs some work done on it. I'm hoping he can do it before the winter rains start. It had a bit of a go at raining today but nothing much. Our water butts been empty for weeks.Better is good enough.5

I bit the bullet and contacted a gardener to give me a quote to sort out the garden.
He said it would take two men a full day to sort out the front garden. That didn't add up in my logical brain. So I spoke to PJ and he said he thought one man could do it in 3 hours!!!! PJ is going to ask his gardener if he'll take me on. 🤞 And guaranteed he won't rip me off.
And breathe....
If PJ's gardener can't do it I'll do it myself. 15 minutes a day until its done. That's mse!

roundtuit said:YORKSHIRELASS said:Ooh Round how about a September challenge to declutter/reorganise? Anyone else fancy that? A sort of 30 day hot-spot challenge? I could start with the box of old football club paperwork under DHs desk.
I'll have a ponder on what to include.

I definitely need to get back to sorting photos. It's like eating an elephant...
First I must get these curtains made. Why did I think that making them myself would be a good idea? Each curtain is 2.5 widths of patterned fabric and of lining material. After the "wrong piece" episode this morning, I started machining the lining sections together and discovered that I had cut the last piece in two along the east-west axis, instead of north-south and therefore parallel to the selvedges. Fortunately the leftover length of lining was longer than was needed, so I was able to cut the final section properly, and this afternoon I have sewn the lining pieces side by side. Phew! Another elephant...
Tomorrow I shall probably only have time to press the seams because I have to take DH to a horse piddle appointment in a new-to-him department. At this rate he'll eventually get a Full House.
Rosie has been most put out this evening because she didn't get any of our meal, which was a vegan recipe to use up some tofu that I bought months ago - she would probably have eaten it, but I dread to think of the possible consequences. She then turned up her nose at her own lamb and salmon kibble, the madam!5 -
Been to work and dealt with filing. popped to Mr L for lunch, sugar because I had 15% off on the app and kale because the bunnies love it. Bins emptied at work. Fridge at work emptied of manky onions which are now in my compost bin, and plums which I will jam. Picked up 5 sheets of bubble wrap from the fruit aisle (I always ask if I may take it) as I need to start packing up DR.
SD phoned tonight…he found the foot pedal for the sewing machine. It was in the back bedroom, as i suspected because that was where the carrier bag it lived in was.
Parcel posted…PO wouldn’t take it yesterday as Evri hadn’t been and they were overwhelmed. MOT booked. Nice and early as they get booked up well in advance due to covid and MOTs being suspended - still having an impact!

Morning. Wordle in four.
Not sure if I posted yesterday but it was paid stuff, some admin and reconcreting part of the patio. Will try to finish that job later today but have more paid stuff, more admin and a vet visit first.Have a great day everyone.Spend less now, work less later.6 -
Morning all xx
I'm still reeling from that gardener's quote. Either he didn't want the job and he made a ridiculous quote to make sure he didn't get it, or .... 🤷♀️
Moving on....Good idea iona 😘. Although I think I should run the Gardening Challenge alongside the September Challenge as the garden wasn't on my original list of 1000001 things to do.
I'm up, showered, dressed, made my bed, taken my meds, turned over the calendars, packed my lunch bag, eaten breakfast, changed Joey's seed and water, and I'm supping a brew. I'll feed the birds and put out the recycling before I set off for the paid stuff.
Payday today. And I received the pay rise backdated to April. A grand net total of £66. Oh well, every little helps.
Bert the spider has come out from behind the TV stand. We had an agreement: he stayed back there and I would leave him alone. He's flouting the rules by creeping alongside the skirting board under the radiator opposite where I'm sat. First warning Bert! Waggy finger is out.
Have a good day.

Morning all,
My list for today
Go over to the stables and check on the horse
Go to dentist appointment
Attend uni lectures
Do paid stuff
Sort the diary up until the middle of September
Check banking and direct debits
Assist DH to do the rest of the pipe work in the kitchen
Discuss DW with DH and order the one that we decide on
Take DD to the stables so she can ride her horse and do the required tasks
Take DS to his drama group
I think that is everything that I need to tackle today. I hope everyone has a lovely Thursday. Hugs to those who want/need them.5 -
