    Morning xx

I'm up, made my bed,  dressed, taken my meds, turned over the calendars, packed my lunch bag, eaten breakfast,  completed Strands with two hints (it's always the one word that foxes me!), completed Wordle in four,  completed Connections with no lives lost- after seeing and not falling into their trap!, changed Joey's seed and water, and I'm supping a brew.

I'll feed the birds and put out the recycling before I set off. Oh, and I need to fill up with diesel on my way past Mr M. Well remembered Round!

My number one priority today is to ask a gardener for a quote to sort out the jungle aka garden. I keep putting it off and putting it off.  Get it done woman. 👄 🐸 👅

    Hope everyone is well.
    Have a good day.

Morning all.  Sunshine here now, but it rained overnight - still not enough to get under the shrubs, but the raised bed in the front garden is looking happier.

DH was up, dressed, breakfasted and out early this morning as he has a nurse appointment at 9.15.  No doubt he'll go back to bed when he comes home, until 11.00, when it will be time for him to go out again for SW.

We had a lovely, relaxed belated party for new teenager DGD2 yesterday: 4 young people took care of themselves - though DGD2 even found time to take charge of some of the cooking, and there were 4 volunteers to hull the strawberries! - while 10 adults sat round the patio table and talked.  Pizza, dips, sausage rolls etc made a pleasant change from our usual low-carb meals (in anticipation of this, we'd only had mushroom omelette and salad at lunchtime), and of course there was the obligatory cake, made and decorated by the talented Auntie Claire (this year it was a Scout camp theme).  We'll be back for probably more of the same, or similar, for DGD1's birthday next month!

I took a look at the curtain lining material yesterday morning but didn't trust myself to cut it, as I was verging on another migraine - fortunately I had time for a few zzz before we went out, which saw it off - so that is my priority today.  I have to get some more, deeper, header tape, as the one that I was sent f-o-c is only 2 rows deep and not best suited to our curtain rails.  The craft shop in the village is only open 4 days a week, but fortunately today is one of them.  My aim is to cut out and sew together today, then maybe pin and sew the tape on Thursday and hem on Saturday.  I asked DGD2 if she was any good at painting straight edges, but apparently she doesn't have a steady hand, so can't help me.  The curtains are so big that I don't want to go to the bother of hanging them until they're finished, so the saga continues.  I shall have to find somebody else to help me paint 2 walls - such a shame that DGS1+2 didn't have time to come and visit us this holiday.

Yesterday I was given more apples by DDiL1, so I need to buy sugar and set to and make some blackberry and apple jam to sell at the church Christmas Fayre, and maybe some apple cakes too.  I'm down to my last £25 in the supermarket budget for August, but the sugar will count as Christmas expenditure (I only make things for the church Fayres, I rarely buy anything) , so all will be well with my purse.  I also need to pick tomatoes and slow down their ripening in the fridge, and pick and freeze the next handfuls of green and purple beans.  Even with 6 pots, we are enjoying a small harvest.

Hope everyone has a good day xxx

Can anyone sghed any light on why I am not getting notifications for this thread even though I have bookmarked it?  It's really irritating.

Anyway washing on line (rained overnight/early morning here but dry now) and flopping section of buddleia cut off, chopped and in green bin with lid open to enable anything that needs to to escape.

Bank account spreadsheet up to date, more or less.

    Free Prime cancelled.

Red letter day voucher expired but they've renewed it via webchat.  Now I have to find something to spend it on... it was a nice thought but what a burden actually spending it is proving to be.  I have no urge to hot air balloon or ride in a helicopter or drive a fast car.    There's nothing particularly local; so I'll have to drive somewhere.  And I'm not a spa day kind of person.  And there isn't an option to donate it to charity.
