Leather would be a very odd material to use as floor mats, especially in a car when you are going to come into it with dirty shoes at times. I assume that references to Italian leather should be read as Italian synthetic leather/pleather; they are far from unique in dropping the "synthetic" as many car companies now are using pleather and yet in most places reference it only as leather.born_again said:
No, they did not mention Italian leather, nor answer where they are made or if they have a UK depot.
Their website states goods are sent from Italy or Asia, dont think anyone believed they have a UK depot. Their registered address is virtual office location (which many legitimate businesses use too)1 -
I have been wondering who are the people who are giving WHIPMATS positive feed backs, I googled 4 and all of them are Dirctors on the Gov Website who have been stuck off, This looks like there is some sort of scam going on with the reviews and trustpilot dont care1

If you believe all you read on review sites like Trustpilot then you should prepare for plenty more disappointment in life....Pinehead said:I have been wondering who are the people who are giving WHIPMATS positive feed backs, I googled 4 and all of them are Dirctors on the Gov Website who have been stuck off, This looks like there is some sort of scam going on with the reviews and trustpilot dont care1 -
Like most of us i to was expecting quality goods. It was disappointing to get the mats, which, i have to say were of extremely poor quality and not the 5 layers they proclaim to be, also not fitting correctly.
I am also aware of the lack of fire retardancy of these mats having spent 40 years in the fire service. Although there is no legislation (as far as i am aware) that vehicle furnishings do not have to be fire resident, I am concerned if a lit cigarette is accidentally dropped on the mats or if the car catches fire the fire spread would be rapid.
I am in contact with Whipmats who have asked for photo's and video footage of the issues. 3 times i have sent pictures and unfortunately due to that size of the video file i am unable to send them, even after they have been compressed. so i do not hold out any hopes of getting my money back0 -
I am currently in a 'quality' dispute with Whipmats. Their registered address is 61 Bridge St, Kington HR5 3DJ which is owned by ghost mail. The company claims that their products are made in Italy, but as many of the comments above have stated they come from China. The tracking emails state this very clearly. This is not my gripe, however. They are refusing to refund me as they are claiming that the mats are bespoke and cannot be sold to anyone else. They are mass produced and no where near to being custom in any way shape or form.
The adverts on IG are of a factory full of happy British employees. The whole thing is clearly a scam, but I am not sure if I can say this.

Using a forwarding address for your registered address is perfectly allowable. Ours is our accountants address which is also common for small businesses.Ross_Martindale said:I am currently in a 'quality' dispute with Whipmats. The fact of where they are posted from is not evidence of where they are made. I have little doubt they arent made in Italy but you can't hold up the postal origin as evidence. My new pressure cooker was made in Switzerland but it was shipped from Germany to me. Similarly my latest shirt was made in India but shipped from London. Similarly a bespoke suit was commissioned in London, made in India but sent to me from London.
You've said it now so too late to wonder if you can.

I have been investigating the Positive reviews on Trustpilot , Everyone on Whipmats who has given their first and second name Ive checked and they are on Company House Gov, Its mostly people who have stopped trading or have resigned, Obviously they have taken the names off the Gov website and are running those names as reviewers, dont know if the owners of the names know whats happening, Surely there must be a way to stop this scam0

What are you actually trying to achieve by devoting an extraordinary amount of time and effort to trawling around review sites? Trustpilot has a reporting facility if you feel it's worthwhile feeding your findings back to them, but then what? None of that is going to help get your money back....Pinehead said:I have been investigating the Positive reviews on Trustpilot , Everyone on Whipmats who has given their first and second name Ive checked and they are on Company House Gov, Its mostly people who have stopped trading or have resigned, Obviously they have taken the names off the Gov website and are running those names as reviewers, dont know if the owners of the names know whats happening, Surely there must be a way to stop this scam0 -

Hi, I bought 4 Mats ,It was described in the video as leather the best sourced in Italy, Made by a British company who is owned by British people, They say they are custom made, How can they be custom made if they have not measured them, I thought that you have the right to return them if ordered by the method ON LINE ORDERING, The Goods are sub standard ,Made of foamAlderbank said:@Pinehead, all I can see is that you paid £150.
Forgive me if I have missed these below, but for my benefit can you tell me- What you actually bought (for example, boot mat for BMW X5),
- How exactly the item was described on the website,
- Under which law you believe they owe you £150 (for example, under S32 of the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 because you told them you want to cancel the contract, or under the short term right to reject in the Consumer Rights Act 2015 because the goods don't conform to contract)
- If the goods don't conform to contract, in what way don't they conform?
