Reversion is always a possibility, frankly I'm surprised that I wasn't bounced immediately. You'd think that they might check before generating a new Premier card which is apparently in the post.noitsnotme said:
I wonder if they will realise you don’t fit the criteria and reverse the decision? Might give it a try myself.flaneurs_lobster said:
By way of contrast, despite in no way meeting the financial requirements (static £30 in current account, no savings) I applied for an upgrade to Premier Banking earlier this week for no reason other than wanting free Apple+ TV. Was granted inside a day.denow said:Barclays becomes less and less attractive all the time. I've banked with them since 1989 but have recently moved my main banking to Lloyds. They just seem to take away benefits and give nothing back. I'm sure the replacement to this will be very underwhelming.
Currently I don't use Barclays for any services so not a worry if it gets the heave-ho, at least I've managed to watch the first two episodes of Alien: Earth on my new big telly.1 -
For a second there, I thought that was the name of the show, and had visions of a show interviewing aliens about watching our planet on their TVflaneurs_lobster said:

Without being boastful, I do earn enough to qualify for this account and signed up for it a while ago. However, earlier this year I was downgraded to a normal Barclays account as I wasn't paying my salary into it. Now I do standing orders back and forth to keep them happy.flaneurs_lobster said:

Yes, Virgin Money as well. The email offers from them and Barclays usually arrive within minutes of each other which is handy as I can consign them to the big bit bucket in the sky simultaneouslyflaneurs_lobster said:
It's remarkably similar to the schemes bolted on to some accounts with RBS/NatWest, Lloyds, Santander and probably others. All run by Visa and difficult to compare (even between two accounts with the same bank) since the promotions are "personalised".gt94sss2 said:

Yes it's a reward scheme that is one of those "just to be seen or be able to say that we have something" but then you look into it and it's either very random or way too specific, so never used. It's also often "cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer" with the offers available direct from the companies usually better than what these schemes offer. I am guessing Visa launched this for financial institutions to try and stem losing business to Mastercard.ColdIron said:

It's handy, as I've earned £40 or £50 every two months by changing my Sky direct debit from Halifax to Bank of Scotland to Lloyds to RBS to NatWest and I'll be switching it to Virgin next monthOrangeBlueGreen said:

Not really that surprising as Barclays let most people apply for or upgrade to Premier. They used to simply charge a fee if you didn't meet their Premier criteria but now to they just downgrade to their pleb account.flaneurs_lobster said:

WarningJust spotted this discussion on your website related to email below. It looks like a fraud/scam email.Normally Barclaycard include the last four numbers of my card, but not in this email. It also had a link for me to log in, which they do not normally do. I've not clicked it. Finally the email addressooks dodgy
Oh and for good measure, I've logged into my account, not using link provided and can't see anything there! The email does not seem very clear on details either. So barge and pole comes to mind0 -
Almost certainly dodgy email for the reasons you state. Financial institutions will never (or at least they shouldn't) include a "click here to login" link in an email but will simply ask you to go to a particular page once you've logged in.OriginalCowPat said:WarningJust spotted this discussion on your website related to email below.
