Wanna_Bee_Free said:£99 so yep it is. I have been thinling about this a lot Scott. I delayed renewing my subscription to push it into October and give me time to think. Is YNAB worth buying. I could use a notebook and budget on paper. I am nervous about changing to that but not sure why. I don't have access to Excel or Word day to day while I'm not working but can borrow someone else's computer every few days and find I need this stuff in mind a lot at the moment. YNAB works on my phone and tablet I have finally started making headway with YNAB after half-heartedly using it incorrectly for years. I really just need to learn how to budget well. There is no magic money tree and I need to feel in control of money ready for living on pensions etc in the not too distant future. This time I plan to renew YNAB snd revisit after 12. months or if I get access to a spreadsheet
I always say a week before payday/payslip time would do a budget. How much i had coming in.
I would mark stuff off as i paid them, how much i had left when everything was paid
I had a month to date additional earning page ie surveys/decluttering/cashback etc
I would even record nsd's the totals
how much i had to spend each day
then every 3-4 days i would write down my debts totals, what payments were
total i was paying out each month on debts etc etc
I understand some peeps are visual like pretty colours yadda yadda
simples buy a handful of these in different colours

Save yourself 99 quid if your having an doubts
thats a huge interest drop imo

Thanks for the ideas Scott, in the end I decided it was worth another year to keep my momentum going but I shopped around and found out I could save £25 as buying it direct from their website was $99 instead. Happy days and I now have a budget line ready to pay for next year if I decide it gives the value now I am finally using it.
It was an expensive but fun weekend staying with friends out of London. No NSDs but every spend was thought about and had a category to come from. October budget firmed up so no more robbing until Halloween or the day before.
Lots of Vinted sales and unpacking of boxes going on so at least we are getting space back and parting with no longer precious things that might be better loved in a new home.0 -
My little sis has lost weight and dropped a couple of clothes sizes. I panicked and bought her some new jeans last week online. Then I realised I didn't have the spare money for this so I trawled some charity shops and found a pair in size 6 and size 8 second hand. Today the new jeans arrived so I've got them back to a drop-off place already; didn't even open them in case I was tempted. That's money I didn't have to spend that is staying put. I find it difficult not to impulse buy things to help her out at the moment as she is going through a really bad patch and I don't know what to do to help her out and fix it for her. Maybe she will like one of the other pairs of jeans. If she starts eating normally again soon then I won't resent spending £6 or £7 but realised the new ones were just a fortune.
The more tired and run down and worried I get the worse my spending decisions are. But I've done well on this one today.3 -
I'm delighted that the charity shop jeans have been deemed acceptable so that was effort worth making last week. Yesterday was NSD1 in October. Today I've shelled out for my annual pre-payment certificate. Some lines on YNAB look tiny so I need to keep away from temptation today.2

Yesterday was very spendy. Ended up at a train station for ages and then in Hospital A&E so vending machine snacks, bacon roll and coffee. All understandable but I felt very low about it yesterday.
I also bought a second hand swimsuit on Vinted before it all kicked off. I am selling loads of good quality stuff on there so suppressed my urge to buy new and went bargain hunting.
3 categories are red already this month. Spending money, presents and hobby weekends away -£73.92. Spending money -£12.25 I just didn't budget enough. Presents -£13 had planned a scorched Earth month but then bought two pairs of jeans from a charity shop. They were acceptable to my little sid and are being worn so I guess that's a win. Given she's very poorly I am pleased to have helped. Bought a ticket for an event in London in January. No accommodation costs so only food and drink to find and can take some with me but not all.1 -

River island jeans or Wrangler jeans for 5-6 quid.

Very true, these were M&S Collection for £6 & £7 so a good bargain and in great condition. I bought her a new pair for £89 and then saw sense and returned them. £13 for 2 much better!0

Wow huge huge saving
Hope you paid on a Chase card and clicked some cashback and that would of being an amazing result0 -
Not quite but I paid on my debit card, have an empty credit card snd if I use my debit card enough times this quarter I get a tenner cash back each month. TS my middle name. Haven't used cashback sites for years, thanks for the reminder! I think it was when the piggy site went under.0

Have a look at Chase, 1 percent on most debit card purchases.
Are you on about receipt hog? It was an app where you snapped pics of receipts and got a fiver every 30-40 receipts.0
