Reconciled my accounts on YNAB and decided to move some hobby money to My Personal Spending. All looking pretty good compared to last month although I have 3 red categories where a big payment was needed before I had enough saved each month. The red ones are Christmas, gifts and festival.  Yesterday was NSD 9. Today won't be as I'm getting my father's car serviced ready for it's return at the end of the month.

Car service £348 on Friday. I'm looking forward to saving all those car costs when I give my Dad his car back next week. Saturday spent on a train fare to go for a walk. Technically NSD 10 as I used oyster balance OH bought a ploughmans we shared and my OJ & Lemonade in the pub so that was lovely of him.

    Yesterday was NSD 11.

I am delaying renewing my YNAB subscription for a while as nothing much is happening at this point in the month. It feels a bit odd. Even though I decided to do this on 19th I keep second guessing myself on it and wondering if I should renew it early.

We've also let n3tflix expire and watching free stuff. Trying to view it as every little helps!

Thanks FootyFanDan another one today so that's NSD 11. The skinter I feel the easier they are!! No money news, just trying to wait patiently until October's new month excitement. I guess no excitement is good as it means I'm not making unplanned purchases.
  • So is ynab 100 py

Couldnt you just use a notebook or word document or excel document?

Confuses me why pay that per year for managing debts. I had 14000 at one point and i never did.

£99 so yep it is. I have been thinling about this a lot Scott. I delayed renewing my subscription to push it into October and give me time to think. Is YNAB worth buying. I could use a notebook and budget on paper. I am nervous about changing to that but not sure why. I don't have access to Excel or Word day to day while I'm not working but can borrow someone else's computer every few days and find I need this stuff in mind a lot at the moment. YNAB works on my phone and tablet I have finally started making headway with YNAB after half-heartedly using it incorrectly for years. I really just need to learn how to budget well. There is no magic money tree and I need to feel in control of money ready for living on pensions etc in the not too distant future. This time I plan to renew YNAB snd revisit after 12. months or if I get access to a spreadsheet

Yesterday's spending was budgetted travel and hobby evening. I went on a long solo walk which I enjoyed although I got very lost at one point. Thought I might never make it back but I was just being dramatic. Today I will need petrol but no other spending is planned. Family day caring today. Wish I'd been sleeping better this week as I expect I will need to be very patient.

With being retired I find YNAB invaluable as we have so many "paydays" between us.  We have our state pension weekly on different days, I have a very small annuity on 28th of month and a work pension on 30th of month - so it's anything between 10 and 12 "paydays" a month.  I'm pretty certain I'd get lost with where we are if I were using pen and paper.  I BUDGET now rather than just TRACK spending.  Since using YNAB I've got from living payday to payday to age of money being 138 days (average length of time money is in an account) and it seems to be stretching a bit over time.

I used Google sheets, it's almost exactly the same as MS Excel but it's free. You can access from any device and I have a spreadsheet that is quite fancy with lots of colours so feels like an app. I have a shortcut on the home screen of my phone so just need to tap that and it opens up the spreadsheet.
