    Thanks Rachmac3!

Another NSD. Tough family day. Back home early at least.

Urrgh. I was doing so well and then spent £6.50 on an emergency ready meal to try and help my little sis eat as she's going through a tough few weeks and is not able to eat much at the moment. Overall it is probably still a much better month than I would have had if I hadn't been trying so much harder.
  • Great news on Vinted, I find it so much easier than eBay! I am trying to list 5 items a week at least, there's quite bit at the moment as ive gone through all our clothes at the weekend however there's always something here and there, one woman's trash and all that!  :)

I used to love YNAB and had a free student membership at one point then switched to excel when it charged but may give it ago again! I like you (in the past you seem to be making great progress this month) would just switch my categories
around and need to learn to say no or that I have to wait!
    LBM Aug 25 - CC £14912 Other £19180
    CC1 - £2963 - now £2818.23

Don’t be so hard on yourself, that was a lovely thing you did to help your sister. I bet she appreciated it more than you realise so kudos to you 👏

I agree Throughmyfingers, Vinted is quicker and easier. I've listed a couple of higher value items on ebay today, two on trash nothing and have more to come.

Today has been an NSD - phew! I have shuffled a few categories around on YNAB but will readjust them all at the start of September. I've taken careful notes of what I did to keep myself honest so that is definite progress. A category I've allocated £60 to this month may not need anything this month which would be great as it would mean £60 more available to budget next time.

Thanks for the vote of confidence 1stTimer. I was feeling frustrated that I finally try to be good and then every day seems to have a new problem to deal with. Now I've slept on it I know I did the right thing. I still need to look out for her even though she's not so little now. We used to listen to My naughty little sister stories as children. I wonder if they are as good as I remember.
  • I have never heard of trash nothing I will take a look, fingers crossed on the £60! x

Thanks, yes fingers crossed! Trash nothing in London is great for passing on usable stuff for free to someone else. It might not be as useful in less populated places. It's like Freegle/Freecycle. So things that I don't feel I can put on ebay or vinted. It might be a bit broken or ancient or hard to post and I'm not sure it will sell. Each person has a rating so you can see how reliable they are for turning up, how long they've been on the site and if they give things themselves or are just asking for stuff. It used to be that people offered something first before asking for anything. I hoped my empty storeage boxes would go but no interest so recycling instead. Empty jam jars, lots of furniture when people move, kids stuff all appear a lot where I am.

It helps keep things out of landfill and the people are generally nice. Timewasters who ghost you or don't turn up are a pain.

Right my plan for today as it's a day at home I have some time and energy for me :):

    Keep my purse tightly closed
Drop the charity shop bag round to them
List at least one more item on ebay, possibly two
Withdraw funds from two selling sites
Rejig my budget in the light of the £60
Possible tip run - ooh the excitement
Back exercises (saving money on painkillers!)

Keep my purse tightly closed - so far so good
Drop the charity shop bag round to them - done
List at least one more item on ebay, possibly two - busy prevaricating
Withdraw funds from two selling sites - Done. There was a third but I have lost the will to live with them. It involved adding a new bank account
Rejig my budget in the light of the £60 - done - see below
Possible tip run - ooh the excitement - done
Back exercises (saving money on painkillers!) - more prevaricating

So I have currently got 3 categories that will need to pay other categories back next month. Small amounts of less than £20 each. My £40 refund has come back as £30 so I've queried that. It's probably an admin fee or something. Overall this month is going a lot better than usual I would say. Roll on September. In between now and then I need to try and stay on the straight and narrow.
