Thanks Scott, will do. It was called something like Pigsback and you earned piggy points and got a small amount of cashback after a while. It's quite a long time ago now.0

Everything has been chaotic since my last post. I handed over the car as planned but have had to shell out over the odds to insure it again for 4 more weeks very unexpectedly to ferry my father around again. My sister has been taken in as an in-patient in hospital instead of last week where it was lots of visits. No clear answers or way forward today but it has been exhausting and emotionally very taxing for me. Watching my 90 year old father rollate up and down what feel like endless hospital corridoors I don't know how he does it. Anyway money is quite low on the list at the moment, I'm just worried about keeping everyone safe and well and trying to get through this tough period. My costs so far probably about £500 (Over £70 on taxis, £306 just for 4 weeks short-term car insurance) plus other bits paid by OH. So tired I can't think straight but just trying to keep on keeping on.1

Sounds very tough. Well done for being there for your dad and your sister. Remember to look after yourself too.2

@Blackcats thanks for stopping by, and a well timed reminder to try and look after myself too.
We thought she was coming home today which was a scary prospect but they are keeping her in until at least Monday or Tuesday. A classic good news bad news story as I had been dreaming of a bath and a night in my own bed tonight. Still, saved petrol not going home as it will be another early start tomorrow hospital visiting.0 -
My sister is out of hospital and back in her own bed. I wish I felt happy but I'm just waiting for the next piano to fall on my head now. I had a night in my own bed last night which was great. Yesterday my father paid for the petrol that drove him to hospital last week, so that's £29 saved. He also paid for the things my sister wanted as I've picked up everything for her in the last few weeks so that was a nice change. Normally I don't have the gall/feel too bad about it to ask him for money after I shell out for things. Once the current crisis dies down I will also think about asking him for a card to use on his account with his permission. I also made an effort to be honest and discuss in detail with him the emergency costs that I have paid for to help my sister and him this month so far. I now need to dig myself back out of a hole not of my making. But if she's out and better and stays better then it's a price well worth paying.
I am off caring duties today and tomorrow barring new crises so it's all about trying to get myself human. I keep nearly bursting into tears this morning so not sure how much I'll get done today but if I rest and recover a bit ready for the next onslaught it will be a day well spent.2 -
Glad your sister is home. I agree that costs add up and I'm like you and found it so awkward to ask for reimbursement, it really is so much easier to have my dad's card and use it with his permission and explain what I've spent.
sounds like you are emotionally drained so I hope you get some well deserved time at home to relax and re-charge.2 -
I am feeling a lot better after some great sleep and time chilling at home. I was so tired on Monday I broke my father's blood pressure monitor and ordered a replacement. Great news OH managed to fix it for me. I also had the time to pick all the fluff out of the velcro again so it looks and works a lot better. Even better there was a delay in my order being shipped so I could cancel the new one without mucking about with returns. £72 saved.
Went for a lovely walk with OH at lunchtime round the lake in our nearest park.
One of my items sold on Vinted so got that out the door pronto. The pile of stuff to be listed is down to two things so I will aim to list them on Friday.
Took lots of time to read the menu at my weekly hobby get together last night and found a main meal that was a lot nicer and more filling than the burger. £14.25 spent.
Family day today. I expect to need the patience of a saint. It's only one day. I can do it. Then a break again until Monday to rest up more and catch up with myself at home.2 -

@rachmac3 Mac n cheese with a side salad. Equally unheathy but tastier. I am a complete cheese fiend!
Well yesterday is done. I helped my sister do a supermarket shop. I was there all day but that was the only achievement as she's slow to decide on things at the moment. .
Then home, sofa time and watched last weekend"s Strictly. Can't imagine who can replace Claudia and Tess. Also watched a daft romcom on 4OD Ticket to Paradise with George Clooney and Julia Roberts. Just what I needed, unchallenging distraction.
I want to list two items on Vinted, pop to the small electicals at the tip with a cable I can't sell or give away and OH unrepairable phone. I tried to get it repaired to resell but no joy so out it goes.
I have given very little thought to a weekend away I have in November so need to look into train tickets. I also have to think about birthday and Christmas present ideas. Perhaps even update my Xmas Oc@do order if I feel strong.1 -
I didn't mention my huge OAT, sewing my friend"s bag. I might be feeling good enough again now not to hash that up.1
