I slept much better yesterday and spent an hour or so on my journal. It was useful from a money saving point of view as I had forgotton my deficit for August was £264.55 which was a lot more than I had remembered although not as much as £500! I also found it great looking at my original wish list of stuff I had wanted as apart from a new dishwasher at some point (old one started again after OH fiddled with it) none of those other wants are particularly resonating now. I'd like a pair of walking shorts but not until next year and everything else was just short-term stuff I craved briefly but moved on quickly. A useful reminder.

I listed two items on Vinted, both purchased last week on Vinted but apparently one of them is counterfeit. The listing has been deleted and I am waiting to hear more. I was angry and disappointed yesterday as I had so little sleep. Today it doesn't matter at all.

In money saving news I completed a couple of surveys so pleased with that. Today will be a low or no spend day. I also got bargain train tickets for my weekend away next month so that's all sorted for a lot less than I expected. Hurrah!

I spotted the £100 big river voucher if you open a S@ntander bank account. Use the debit card 30 times in 60 days. No switch required. https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/banking/compare-best-bank-accounts/  I am annoyed they are taking over T5B so decided to wreak my revenge. I've put a reminder about it in Feb when the link to claim should come through. I am proud of myself for being willing to jump through some hoops, read the small print and do a little work for an offer. Usually it looks like too much effort. Now to follow through on my cunning plan!

You are doing so well!  Really interested that your wish list shrunk so much when ignored for a few months.

    Good morning folks,

I travelled home unplanned on public transport on Sunday night - extra £18 spent to get home the quickest way. Yesterday I nearly drove out to family again but realised I'd set my travel budget and running around like a headless chicken responding to family drams would blow it all up again this month. I need to step back and stop it putting me into crisis too. I bought bread and two missing items for dinner at the supermarket to adapt OH solo plan for two of us. Put them all through separately for tapping cashback :-)

Did the monthly money shuffle and double checked my plan. Too tight but hey ho. I think it's as good as it can be right now.

Completed the information Evri wanted about my missing package and requested a replacement from my lovely ebay seller.

This morning I have bought my first Christmas gift and done a survey. I've had some rest and feel almost human again.  Today I plan to work on my gift list and holiday food plans as per my flylady email. I also want to get some ideas for menus this month. I use an app for that p@prika. OH uses it too and we can look at our recipes in there anywhere. I used to have about 3 box files full of new paper recipes to try but I got rid of loads. Now I only have one paper file of new ones I want to try and then type up. I do less of the cooking and rarely try new recipes so the fifty recipes will take a while to work through. Lots of soup recipes in there. I love soup.

    Have a good day everyone.

Completed another survey this morning. Got quite a lot of menu ideas, now I just need to convert into shopping lists.

Today I plan to work on my gift list and holiday food plans as I put these off yesterday and today is anti-procrastination day. Today's cleaning task is the fridge.

I got an offer on a muppet animal keyring I wanted on Vinted reduced down to £2. Went to buy it and realised it's over a fiver in total so walked away. No spare dosh at the moment.

Have you seen the grocery challenge thread on the old style section of MSE?  The opening page of each month's thread has a huge alphabetical list of inexpensive recipes.  The monthly challenge is also a helpful thiread to join in with.  Set your budget and track as the month progresses.  There are some amazing folk who manage to eat well on very small budgets.  All of us who post on the thread just do our best and it's a very friendly place.  I reckon I spend about £50 a month less now that I participate in the grocery challenge.

    Good morning folks,

Thanks @Blackcats will checkout old style menu boards next week.

In money news yesteday was a low spending day. A small amount of petrol and a discounted £1.75 egg sandwich at the garage. Family had a hospital visit to 4am Thu morning without me so I needed an easy option for breakfast. I am now planning a wild and free of family weekend - yippee to fireworks and friends. Apologies to those like Sun Addict with pets who hate them. We've warned/invited our cat owning neighbours and there are no dogs in our little road. I am hoping we scare the local fox because I still haven't forgiven them for raspberry and other garden destruction back in the spring.

We are hosting tonight for the first time since New Year's Eve 2020. Not worried about bad omens and portents at wll. OH decided this so I am along for the ride to be supportive. Funny really as I am the sociable one usually but the family stuff has put a stop to that for the last 3 years.

Our food challenge this weekend will be using up leftover party food as it feels like we have emough for a small army in the fridge. The fridge tetris yesterday was a work of art but it was terrifying getting the milk out for tea this morning. I have a much better idea of what's in the freezer too thanks to this. I found two separate burger bun packs the day after buying new ones last week. I know, I know. I'm much better at putting things into the freezer than taking them out. That is ninja level to me.

A christmas present is arriving today for OH so I will hide that. He can tell what something is by looking at the box half a room away so I doubt it will be a surprise. He knows I know he needs one. I have decided practical and useful and it doesn't need to be unexpected.
