YNAB robber needs help to execute the plan

Hope you enjoy your evening out, you deserve a bit of light hearted distraction!
Well done doing that research and contacting people, I'm not surprised you were teary. You have so much on your plate and you are being brilliant, but it's not blimmin fair that you should have to be. Keep on soldiering on, with designated days when you are simply not available for anything but sleeping/reading/walking!

The quiz was fun but we came third and were beaten by quite a few points. OH paid for my evening out too :)
I got lots of laundry and ironing done yesterday, including all OH shirts.
It is only ten days till our holiday in Edinburgh so meal planning was top of my list yesterday. I want to leave a mostly empty fridge and partially empty freezer for our friends
Now OH isn't working from home I need to triage the fridge regularly. He never did it but I was always secretly resentful he didn't, sulked and didn't do it myself on principle. Not very MSE! Plus it meant I never knew what was lurking in the depths until it was too late. I try not to waste food but compared to most on here we are terrible! I also make recipes but don't always have a complete plan for using the leftover part-packages of vegetables. We have a weekly online delivery from avoado with two letters missing. I am quite good at freezing things but terrible at remembering to use them again It's a one way track until it's suddenly full. I am working on labelling things better. I started using a Sharpie and masking tape a few months ago which is working better than mystery food
I made a meal plan based on our fridge and freezer contents so have a plan in place for everything except an ice gem lettuce and two red onions. Err lettuce and red onion omelette anyone? Ideas very welcome. I had to say goodbye to a very squishy beetroot. We have rather more garlic than I realised too so no need to buy any at the moment.
OH told me we shouldn't be keeping our onions and potatoes together. The last lot of potates were mouldy and sprouty very quickly. I used to have a potato bag made of cloth from the land of lakes but OH moaned so much I got rid of it. He's the chef in chief so I try to keep him happy so he feeds me.
My other MSE thing yesterday was planning for the costs of a weekend away in November. I had confirmation of my booking so I bought my train fares. Then I had a look at the previous costs in YNAB. The categories are really working well now as I could find it all no problem. I have copied forward the big costs (Taxi, accomodation and my share of our online shop.) Still to do: Add up the 'small' spends at the bar for wine and water and set a realistic budget for that. It's the weekend before my birthday. I don't know if that will mean I will buy more of my own drinks or fewer as I can't use the 'it's my birthday' excuse!
Today I am with family. GP with Little Sis then possible routine hospital visit with my father. My MSE plan is to take water, a sandwich and a snack bar with me. I hope to avoid spending today.
I think a cooler day at home was useful yesterday even if it was a bit flat-feeling. Now I've written it out here I can see it more clearly I did some useful planning.
Tomorrow I need to clean the floors and a kitchen drawer or two. My cunning plan on 20th May to do one a day lasted exactly one day so back on to that. Plus probably more ironing.

I keep my potatoes in the fridge’s salad drawer, but then there’s only one of me.I used to use a potato bag in a cool, dark cupboard when the family were still at home, but unfortunately I didn’t find it 100% successful.

A handful of pasta or cheese or anything that needs using from the fridge mixed in with onion (raw or sautéed) on shredded gem lettuce, with a little drizzle of oil or dressing or vinegar, could be a lovely lunch or two

Drat and double drat. My father's cheque hasn't been honoured even though he went into branch a few months ago with an updated signature. It will get sorted next week but I've raided my holiday pot of £175 to cover my May cc spending. The good news was the money was there to plunder, otherwise I'd pay interest. It's doubly annoying as he also wrote a cheque for his April carer cooking dinners and I guess that will bounce too.
In good news I've had £15.45 and £1.92 back for the terrible train days. I appealed the £1.92 but they rejected my appeal. Next time I'm taking photos and screenshots as I think it was longer than a thirty minute delay. Now my father is out of hospital I will be doing a different journey anyway.
Saving pot was £239.95 now £64.95.
Yesterday I avoided spending until passing a sunny pub so suggested a drink or 3 to OH before going home. Reslly enjoyed it. Paying the price today. Not very MSE.
My lunch concoction will be based on PiP's idea, thank you!

Rude not to visit a pub during a heatwave 😁 Anyway, you need some down time actually enjoying something!
Hope the cheques get sorted soon and that the lunch was nice

A lovely long walk yesterday and no tempting pubs. Lunch at home heavily featuring red onion and little gem lettuce. That red onion is fierce raw. I bought a cooler pair of walking trousers on Vinted and also wine.
Today is family visiting.

I don't know if you have vinegar in the house, but I can highly recommend pink pickled onions to use up red onion. You can probably find some decent quick recipes online but it's just vinegar, salt, sugar, water, red onions and done in 15 mins.

Ooh thanks very much for that idea, I definitely have vinegar, salt and sugar. I'll have a bash at that tomorrow.

Another difficult one yesterday. Moving on…
I have half the money of the bounced cheque to pay in. I bought a £1.75 pork pie at the supermarket. Not good for my weight and blew my NSD out of the window. Worth it not to have a hunger meltdown.
I am sad my art pass expired. It makes sense to have a gap anyway even if I renew. My zoo membership also finished.
I have decided not to visit today and go for a walk instead.
