Another week seems to have flown by. I have visited hospital only on 3 days and had a lovely day at the zoo and some rest. My annual membership was ending so I wanted to make sure I used it for another day before it expired. I have two more weeks of my art pass so will be planning outings to use that too. It is quite likely I will renew straight away or buy another one soon anyway as it saved me a lot this year. My network railcard for the train is also coming into it's own with savings every time I visit hospital it has already paid for itself at least twice over since boxing day.

I picked up another survey and I will have at least £14.20 to come back to my holiday pot at the end of the month. I raided my pot to fund the unexpected costs for hospital so current savings total is £227.78 + £14.20 is £241.98. It could be a lot worse. When my father is well enough I will ask him for some help towards train tickets etc. Plus he owes me £139 from before he went into hospital but not a priority at the moment.

It's been a bit of a shock to have early starts again but we have both survived OH's first week and all seems to be going well. 3 months will fly by anyway. I have been trying to go back to doing more housework, ironing and cooking etc to be supportive but he's met me at least half way this week.

Tomorrow we are planning an art pass outing to Apsley House. I am looking forward to a day together again, and then family/hospital visiting on Sunday.

Forgot to add GP was pleased with little sis weight gain and prescribed sleeping pills and a follow up session with him end of the month. She seems worse since the visit and had another call with him but he basically said the same stuff again. She was unable to drive or leave the house yesterday and is fixated on what the neighbours are doing. I'm dreading Sunday but we are planning to cook her roast lunch before visiting my father in the hospital. He is well enough to leave hospital now so we are just waiting for a place in the rehab centre which is a lot nearer for her to visit him.

Exciting news, we have our 5th set of people coming for a house viewing later. Little Sis back to Jan/Feb problems I spent yesterday in A&E with her so I only got a couple of hours with my father.

My bank account is empty and all spending going on my card until the end of the month. Eep. Next visit Thursday. I shouldn't when I can't afford it. Holiday savings £227.78, prolific £15.20 and cc £258.62 so actual debt is £15.64. Maybe I can find some stuff to sell and a few more surveys. My father owes me £140 plus he is likely to help with fares aetc when he is stronger.

OH work going well. Early starts are a shock to both of us. He's noticed I am stepping up on housework etc to help. He cooked dinner for me last night though. After sitting on the A&E chairs for a few hours I am in quite a lot of pain. I walked around regularly and tried to mitigate it but even so. Mind you it was very painful Sunday and a bit painful late last week. I requested a GP appointment to check out my back and referred leg pain.

Today's OATs are take a dress and two books to the charity shop and take an old phone to the recycling centre. I want to get the house looking lovely and clean for this afternoon.

Thought of another OAT which would save me money. Go into the library and get their help with the ebooks thingy as it didn't work last time I tried. Err. Probably a couple of years ago. I bought two kindle books recently to get me through but it would have been avoidable if the library one worked. Frist step try it again and check it hasn't mysteriously started working again.

OAT update from March forward into Spring.

I have achieved 3 excellent OATS. I dropped the dress and two paperbacks into my favourite charity shop. I checked the book prices on bookloop first but went ahead and donated the 35p. With the house on the market keeping the house tidy and decluttered is also important.

I posted the final OAT on my diary earlier.

Currently sitting in the library smiing wryly to myself. First I had to remember the ebooks thingy name. Libby. Second step, download the app. Log in with library number and pin. Tricky moment remembering a rarely used pin but it was the first one I thought it was. Chose a book to borrow. All worked swimmingly. Obviously doing it sitting in the library rather than anywhere else made a difference. This has been an OAT since June 2022! Turns out it was a much easier OAT to take care of than I thought. £15.98 spent on 2 ebooks over the last two months. I plan to make that figure zero now.

OAT = Outstanding annoying task as per this thread https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6657481/march-forward-into-spring-2026#latest

The idea is you tackle them before they get annoying by hanging around too long! Clearly not working in my case. Reread my post and realised how odd it would be without that info. Sorry!
