I know what you mean ArtyJ931! I've started strongly again today by cleaning out the kitchen cutlery drawer. We are letting friends stay in our place next month while we stay in a different friend's place so we are all getting cheap holidays. I want to tackle the kitchen a little at a time and early so as not to get overwhelmed and stressed out at the last minute when I need to pack.

I also want to tackle the fridge and freezer today. Clean the fridge shelves and make a list of the mysteries of the freezer. I'd like to leave our friends at least a teeny space in there by the time we go. Plus some of it has been lurking for ages.

In MSE news I got an enormous refund on a delayed train so £1.92 has gone into my holiday pot which now stands at £229.70 plus £15.30 to come on prolific. £245 and only £5 short to get back to my original £250 target.

I am seeing a friend and it is her birthday so I want to buy her something consumable and fairly cheap. She got me chocolates which I don't particularly like but maybe I can return the favour. I also want to send a get well card to an elderly neighbour so I will have a look at my card stash and see if I have anything suitable. Plus cards for two May baby friends.

@ArtyJ931 the thread is also for tasks that have been outstanding for weeks/months/years so come on over if you like 🙂

Hurrah for train refund WannaBee, and me and my friends do a similar thing where we stay in each others gaffs if we're going away, a new area is basically a holiday!

That's a great idea staying at friends place, like you said, cheap holiday for you all and you know your place is being looked after by someone you trust.

I've never suggested it before. I hope it's not false economy! We agreed to cat sit for friends in Edinbugh as I've always wanted to go. Then our friends mentioned they were on holiday about to find somewhere and since our place is empty it made sense to offer.

I bought my friend a box of nice chockies for £6, she seemed pleased. A token gesture that won't clutter up her home for long. I think she enjoyed her evening.

Two big steps forward yesterday. My father is out of hospital and in the rehab centre. He wrote me a cheque covering 90% of my spending associated with Little Sis and him being in hospital since February. My YNAB looks a lot healthier.

Now I need to double down on taking food, snacks and drinks with me. I also need more free time at home to keep on top of the housework, iron OH shirts etc so he feels supported while he works.

Little Sis not in a good place. She had a visit from the mental health team on Friday but they just emailed stuff to her and she can't or won't read it. At the moment she is struggling to watch TV, read, sleep, drive, leave the house, buy and prepare food, use her phone. She has a headache that leaves her groaning in pain, chest pain, digestive issues. We fed her Sunday lunch and at her request I went with her in our father's car a short distance while she drove. I was hoping she would be able to drive 10 minutes to see our father now he's back in the same town. At least her taxis to visit him will be cheaper than hospital. She said she couldn't walk 15 minutes to the local shop as she's too weak. She came out of psychiatric hospital 7 weeks ago and still has receved no help in a practical form. No CBT or counselling. I suggested 5 weeks ago she officially call DWP to stop carer's allowance and change to Universal Credit as she's not able to look after herself at the moment and clearly can't look after my father when he is well enough to come home. The follow up GP session I suggested is on Thursday. The A&E Doctor who checked her ECG, bloods and chest X-ray last Monday was clear she is medically fine and there are no easy fixes to her problems. At least I drove and took her round the supermarket so she has food in the house she can eat. She said the headache feels like she has spiders in her brain and she can't do anything until she gets her memory back. My father and I are telling her sleep, eat 3 meals a day and exercise in fresh air like a walk. I am at my wits end. She hates being alone but has no hobbies, interests, boyfriends or friends. She is expecting me to help her and says she can't cope with anything without me. I've blocked her on my phone as I can't keep dealing with all her calls and problems. Every day is multiple drama. I need to keep well myself.

sending kind thoughts to you wannabe. Your sister sounds like she is very unwell and she needs professional support. You can only do what you can do and you can't be expected to make her better.

I hope your dad is doing ok in the rehab centre. It's good that he can transition from hospital to rehab.

Thanks for your support Blackcats. I wish I knew where that professional support was. It seems like a mythical thing these days!

I've been trying to make her better but haven't managed it. The rehab centre is a bit step forward, it's much nicer than the hospital.

Sending lots of sympathy, even though it may feel harsh blocking her number so you get some downtime is the right thing to do, you won't be of any use to anyone if you become a wreck!

Is it worth calling/emailing clinic or council asking where this support is?
