Online banking after October 14th?

So I have Windows 10 on my PC & it wont support Windows 11.
No problem as at some point I was planning on building or buying a new one anyway but then I've been thinking about that for a few years now & still not got round to it so who knows when.
So with Win10 support ending, would you continue doing online banking on a Win10 machine? If not then is there anything else you'd not do online on a machine lacking support/updates?
My laptop is very old & I was actually considering getting a cheap refurb one from laptopsdirect so I may do something like that & use that machine for online banking but the question is what is seen as being ok & not ok on a machine that receives no updates?
Although having said all that, I clung on to Win7 for many years after its support ended (only switched to Win10 in 2020) and had absolutely zero banking incidents. This year alone I've had 3 fraudulent transactions (all with same provider).

Well Santander just says you need a version of Windows (or "MacOS"), it doesn't stipulate any particular version, though it says you need a browser later than a certain version (Firefox 69 or Chrome 77, both released September 2019), whichi means it still works on pretty much Windows 7 or later on those versions.Most other banks I've seen make no mention of the operating system, it seems to be all about the browser.2

Do you need Windows for anything other than a web browser? If not, you may want to look at alternative OS on your old hardware. ChromeOS Flex or Linux could be worth a look. Linux attracts a "hard to use" vibe, but something like Ubuntu can be easy to set up and will largely look after itself in terms of updates etc.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Credit Cards, Savings & investments, and Budgeting & Bank Accounts boards. While there is a registry hack widely publicised that allows you to install Windows 11 on a PC/laptop, it bypasses some of the security and a professional that I mentioned it to said not to bother and just upgrade the PC. Our two laptops and the desktop are all Windows 11 from new.
Beware of refurbished PCs and laptops that are often old office machines that are not Windows 11 compatible but have been hacked, ie no better than your old Windows 10 laptop.
One laptop I had was officially upgraded to Win 11 from 10, using the Windows semi automatic update, but had a problem with the battery charge indicator, when I checked the manufacturers site there wasn’t a Win 11 driver and when asked they said the battery indicator and backlight control were not compatible with Win 11 and they didn’t support upgrading it!
FWIW, I do virtually all my banking on my iPhone (TSB, Nationwide, Santander) and share buying and selling (Fidelity). The phone apps provide pretty much everything I need.0 -
Can you not just bank via your phone? Easier and more convenient than having to log into a PC or laptop for just the same functions.

But I don't like doing many things on a mobile tbh. The odd bit of browsing is ok and I use mobile versions where it's necessary (Chase app for example) but I prefer doing things on a desktop.0 -

If I say £500 for example, someone would recommend a £499 laptop, but something at £250 may tick my box just fine.1
