There shouldn’t be a premium for “getting renewables” since the power that comes into to your premise is by its nature is a mix, of gas, nuclear, wind, solar, stored hydro and of course the ultra renewable carbon neutral wood burning(sic).barker77 said:
Sure, but they are needed for the millions of customers who choose to pay the bit extra to get renewables. Without them there is no demand and it’s the demand that increases generation (I appreciate there is an argument it would happen anyway but this does increase it )QrizB said:barker77 said:Yes but the certificates bought lead to real increases in renewables year on year. That's a matter of opinion.REGOs are so cheap that I don't think selling them makes a real difference to energy producer's exonomics. And the cost of that is spread over all customers, you said millions pay extra for getting renewables on top of what they already pay, but still they get the mix.barker77 said:

Im currently on an Octopus fixed rate which ends in August.Checking different companies rates, I cant understand why Octopus's standing charges are so much higher than othe companies ?Id like to stay with Octopus, but using the compaison sites switching to EDF currently saves me £100 per year.0

when something goes wrong , their customer service is appalling , that is something to consider
for £100 savings , I definitely would not change to them , it’s just not worth it2 -

Does the EDF tariff have an exit fee per fuel?0 -
Octopus high standing charges:
I asked about this and was told that it compensated for not having any fee attached if you changed tarrif either within Octopus or by moving away.
EDF SC are far lower than Octopus - but £50 fee per utility if you change before end of contract.1 -
Slightly higher for me. definitely regretting not taking the loyalty electric fixnorthernstar007 said:July V3 is now out
