My £5 Reward was due to expire on 31 July, I noticed some members had managed to renew their reward on 16th June so I gave it a go and I was also given the chance to renew for another 12 months via the app. This went through fine. I've now noticed though, that when I use the 'Track your Rewards Extras' it says my reward ends on July 31st 2025, but the 'Add Your Rewards Extras' says I've already added a rewards extra and can't add another until it expires on 31 July 2026. Communications from Halifax over this policy change have been a bit sketchy. I can't see anything regarding the remaining reward being paid in a lump sum, other than on here, and it's ambiguous when my reward expires.
Not sure it means anything, but my renewal was due and today the tracker has been updated to show an expiry of 30 June 2026.

So it looks like the system is recognising and actioning renewals made before the 17th, even if the renewal was due after that date.

Whether Halifax pay out for the full year remains to be seen though.
Take a screenshot, and if they don’t pay out submit it as a complaint. If you renewed and the system shows it, you should probably receive the payout
I'd keep an eye on it and if the renewed June rewards don't get paid in July, it could be a sign that something hasn't worked right. But I agree that in the event of anything going wrong that a complaint should be submitted.

Mine say they expire on 30th September 2025, I don't know if they changed it as that wasn't the date I thought it was. Does this mean the last payment I'll get will be in October or September?

Mine expire naturally early next year and my expiry hasn't changed when I checked it in the app just now. I'd potentially double check your dates and it could be worth getting in touch if you think they've got it wrong. Otherwise if your last reward month is Sep, then you should expect your payment in Oct, as the rewards are always paid in the month after the month you qualified.

There's no suggestion that Halifax will make changes to existing rewards any sooner than the end of September - and their terms say they have to give 2 months notice; therefore they don't need to confirm their intentions with customers until the end of this month.
For one of my accounts, rewards will end on 31st August. At that time no rewards will be available, as they've made a change meaning my account is no longer eligible to sign up to them. They no longer have time to give me 2 months notice of this.

So it seems that the new account is basically the same as Club Lloyds (minus their Lifestyle Rewards). So they are doing to Halifax what they did to BoS.  :'(

It seems odd that there's no information on downgrading to the free account. People had to actively opt into this Rewards system so why should it be assumed that people want to keep a (possibly) fee-bearing product that doesn't offer anything that can't be obtained elsewhere? Chase for free overseas use; their ISAs don't have the generous funding window of the Lloyds ones and the rates can probably be beaten by applying to the right building society as a new customer.

I've just read of this in the MSE email.  How did you manage to renew the extra at this time?  I believe the method here was change the account to an ordinary current account then apply again for reward extra.  But under track reward extras online, it has this text which unless it's not yet actually implemented, seems clear it can't now be done (so I've not yet tried otherwise I'll lose this month's reward):

"Why can't I add a Reward Extras offer?
The option to add Reward Extras is no longer available. However, if you're a Reward Current Account holder:No debit card fees from us when using your card abroad after 07 JulyYou could earn credit interest on your account from 01 October"

    It isn't possible now.

Under the old system the reward tracker invited customers to renew their reward (nothing to do with closing or downgrading the current account) when it got to somewhere just over 6 weeks before the existing reward expired.  The renewal link only appeared at this time.

Which meant that customers with a reward expiring on 30 June could do their annual renewal from sometime in mid-May.  Those with a renewal of 31 July had the option available from some date in mid-June.  So there was a narrow window between the next year's renewal link becoming available, and the ability to renew being pulled completely on 17th June.

This method only worked for people whose renewal dates were in June and July.

Some people used a different method of downgrade/closure of their account and then applied for a new reward, but that option also isn't applicable now that the ability to get new rewards has been stopped.

Thank you. I also only found out about this via the MSE newsletter. I originally had a Reward Current Account as my regular income was paid into this and all my DDs came out of it so I've never had to pay the £3 fee. When the £5 Reward Extra (after tax) was added for keeping £5k in my current account I did that as it was a better interest rate than most of the savings accounts at the time. I also keep a little extra in it to pay for any large charges that have gone onto my credit card so that my balance doesn't fall below the £5k. I shall probably keep the account 'as is' for now until I see what interest is paid compared to the £5 reward (£6.25 gross).
