My mum received a PCN for a drop off at Manchester Airport Terminal 1 last year.

She received letters but ignored them.

This month she has received a letter from Empira saying the account is being prepared for referral to Gladstones Solicitors.

Is it too late to follow the advice given when you receive the first PCN in the post?

  • Also interested to hear about this I am on my 3rd letter from debt recovery. I appealed to Apcoa using the QR CODE on the first parking notice. However they report they never receive it. I did actually pay the drop off charge (I wasn’t driving) however I paid it 72 hours not 24 hours later. I also complained but received no reply other than a bot response.

do I pay the now increased fee?
    or hold out?

Nobody pays a penny. Absolutely no paying.

@pillsandthrills your case is dead easy because the keeper wasn't driving and this is not PoFA 'relevant land' so they can't pursue you if they know that the driver wasn't you.

    Why not prove it?

It's a complete cinch to end this.

You are both reading the wrong thread and should have seen this, which I posted on 11 August in the Airport Drop Off Group Thread:

Do that, or a similar version.

If you are past the 'blink-and-you-miss-it' appeal stage, simply email it to their DPO (details on their data privacy page) and head it up:

Wrong data subject: erase my data and call off your DRA thugs immediately because I was not the driver.

Unless it was your identical twin driving that day, their photo of the car & driver is likely clear enough to show it doesn't match the photo on your driving licence.

Stops them dead. Worked like a dream for my friend in Worthing who wasn't driving.

    NB:

THIS IS NOT A CATCH-ALL FOR ALL PRIVATE PCNS.

THIS ONLY WORKS AT NON-RELEVANT LAND (LIKE AIRPORTS) OR CASES WHERE THE NTK WAS NON-POFA WORDED, AND WHERE THE PARKING FIRM HAS AN IMAGE OF THE DRIVER WHICH THE KEEPER'S DRIVING LICENCE DOESN'T MATCH.

PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

  • Ok thank you very much, I have emailed the data protection officer with the text as above including my driving licence, boarding card and also the receipt for the drop off payment emailed to me by Apcoa (48 hours late but still paid)

I will wait to see what happens next!

    Hi,
I sent the template to APCOA, 2 weeks later, notification of the cancellation of the parking charge!

So thank you and this thread contributors!
