Want to find "Reborn" - life like dolls

I find this doll really disturbing
Oh my god!
I find that really really odd.
Its given me goosebumps.
I didn't watch the program - I forgot
I imagine they probably did edit it to make people look as oddball as possible.
In that link you gave there is this bit :
I have not included the medical equipment in the sale of Theo but if you would like them please email me at the end of auction.why?
Its made me feel a bit sick actually.Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...0 -
I agree.
I don't think that tiny baby is a work of art. I'm not sure if I know anyone who would. Although I suppose its a bit like Damian Hurst - cutting a cow in half and formeldehyding it. Not my thing.
But... nope even though trying to be reasonable its still sick.Thats wrong on many levels.
Wiring newborns directly to the mains isnt the way to go people! Always fit a powerbreaker first
And you, miss changing personalities... stop being funnyI saw two shooting stars last nightI wished on them but they were only satellitesIs it wrong to wish on space hardwareI wish, I wish, I wish you'd care0 -
oh god, Inever looked at the link, its awful, disgusting.....sick ? I dunno, but its not right.
urgh, its horrible and its made me feel sick :eek:0 -
Sorry Quackers
S'ok
I'm finding myself weirdly intrigued by that website.
With the 'healthy/normal' dolls I can see how much work as gone into them and why some doll collectors would find them beautiful.
Not my thing at all but i can see why people collect them as dolls.
I see no other use for them.
And I find the 'prem/sick' babies really really disgusting and not necessary.
I've just shown my youngest who is 13. She thought the prem baby was a real one and did 'awwwww, thats so sad'. Then when I told her it was a doll she did this >
When I explained that people buy them and dress them and change them and maybe cuddle them she said one word as she walked out of the room in disgust......
'SICK'Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...0 -
or inject them  as some of the pics show on that link I put in the post.
Having said that if someone has munchausens (which apparently now doesn't exsist... hmm.. beg to differ) Its SO much safer for them to have a doll and inject, poison, hurt that rather than a real child.
But as someone who has gone through the trauma of having a premie baby, there is no way I would want that doll in my house. Why would you want to relive the worst time in your child's life whether they survive or not? Surely you just look forward to the next years of health
I still find the concept of spending money on a car seat for a doll really hard to come to terms with... if I wanted to protect it that much I'd wrap it up in bubble wrap and put it in a box in the boot with towels round it to cushion it. Not stick it in a car seat that I have spent money on.
I just find it too odd to be that extreme, the collecting I get (sort of), the appreciating the artwork I get (sort of) the clinging on to a perfect clean silent baby and dressing/feeding/checking temps etc I just don't get.I saw two shooting stars last nightI wished on them but they were only satellitesIs it wrong to wish on space hardwareI wish, I wish, I wish you'd care0 -
I recorded the programme and haven't watched it as yet and earlier I couldn't get into the link but now I have, yes that is sick, why anyone would want to wire up a doll to look like an ill baby is beyond me.0

If I had bought one of these dolls as a "replacement" when one of my babies died I would have been on a one way ticket to the local psychiatric ward!
I really can't see where the benefit is for these women. When does it stop being a novelty and become an obsession?Having said that if someone has munchausens (which apparently now doesn't exsist... hmm.. beg to differ) Its SO much safer for them to have a doll and inject, poison, hurt that rather than a real childThe "Bloodlust" Clique - Morally equal to all. Since watching that, I have had weird dreams every night!!!!!
I went to a meeting yesterday at a pre-natal screening clinic, and it was the only topic of conversation amongst the staff, who were all disturbed by the programme.0 -
Thats one that Orphie posted is horrid. Who on earth would think to have something like that is normal? If their chld has gone through that and died why would they want a reminder? Why do they want a doll in a state that has got to be one of the worst visual things a parent could possibly see?
I have actually found some more pics of another SCBU baby but to me they are worse, so if you found the last link bad, don't click this one. http://www.babybuntinsnursery.com/outandabout/International_Doll_Show-251107/929 There are more if you click next.
Actually, looking at this on, is it Harry from the programme? I think it is, the pics look the same. It looks like a shrine. http://www.babybuntinsnursery.com/outandabout/International_Doll_Show-251107/Work like you don't need money,Love like you've never been hurt,And dance like no one's watchingSave the cheerleader, save the world!0
