I think it's a little bit sick and explotative of the makers to market these shocking items.

The women on the programme were all deeply disturbed / grieved and all could do with some psychiatric help, not a piece of plastic to groom and love

I agree with most of the posts those women had issues that needed dealing with and I really don't see how having a replica 'baby' was dealing with it...

I found it deeply disturbing and it also invaded my sleep and gave me the eeby jeebies....

why don't you get a dog instead , it will give you more love and affection than a peice of plastic ever could

i too found it very disturbing.
i felt sorry for the women who wanted them to replace or take the place of a real baby and angry at the woman selling them as she wandered round her local tescos trying to sell them

I am probably going to get slated for this but......(And i do agree these ladies are replacing a real life baby) But who are they hurting?I do agree its mainly women who have a gap in their lives that mainly buy these, but each to their own. Bit strange maybe  but if i had the money i would be very tempted!Saying that, i would never kid myself the doll was real and take it out like the ladies did in last nights programme.I could imagine buying one and keeping it at home though. Better take a look at my life and see whats lacking!:o
What i do think is wrong is when i read about 60+ year olds travellling to other countries to get ivf and end up with "real babies" when its obviously not the right thing for the child.

my 9 yr old daughter got 1 of these dolls 4 xmas.on the picture on-line it did look like a real baby but when it came my oh said it looked like a dead baby.daughter thinks its fab tho
  • To me they look like dead babies, gives me the creeps but I do have a doll that has her own outfits to change into. I've had her since I was a baby and now she sleeps with my youngest son.

Personally I think they are a bit freaky!

I agree with an earlier post that these women are doing no harm but at the same time, I felt uncomfortable watching the programme last night. I can kind of understand someone collecting them or even having one at home to cuddle every now and then (not for me but it takes all sorts).

Pushing them around in a pram etc though seems on another level to me. Does it sound daft to say I felt embarrassed for those ladies?

The other thing that struck me was the ladies reaction to the damaged one - she has big issues aside from the doll one imo. Like she is compelled to have everything perfect? Really, she is someone who is better with doll babies I would say.

I have to admit, even as a wee girl growing up I hated dolls and I still dislike them to this day. But I'll say one thing. I found this program far far FAR less disturbing than the "Guys And Dolls" docu on ch5 shown in September '06. And no, it wasn't about the musical.

Of course I for one won't slate you - but the simple answer to the question highlighted in bold is - themselves. As far as I could see, they were failing to address their issues.
