Realistically, I can’t afford to do a law degree and I already used my masters loan up on a masters which I did not complete. I want to do an access as I’m hoping it’s equivalent to NVQ level 3 which a few jobs I have seen list as essential or desirable.

If you've used the masters loan, do you also already have a bachelor's degree?

What are you hoping to do with the NVQ?

Yes, I have a bachelor’s degree from about twenty years ago. I am hoping to get a better paid admin job or become a PA.

I would think you'd be able to get a job like that without further qualifications.

Have done my budget for next month. It’s even tighter than usual as I am going away to see my sister. The price of train fares! I have put that as a separate category, not in my weekly spends.

I must try to get my credit card onto a 0% deal, to save interest.

My other sister and maybe my niece are coming round for dinner this week. Not sure what to cook them. I’m vegetarian (doing it as a challenge for 2025) but my niece isn’t keen on what she calls “funny food”. Maybe burgers and I’ll have veggie burgers. Easy and always seems to go down well.

Really feel in control of my finances. Thanks for everyone who has posted with supportive comments.

i have £35 left until Saturday as I paid £20 out to savings on Monday as I regularly do. I was going to buy something to treat myself last night as had a had a box of a stressful day but I didn’t. I shouldn’t be having too many treats anyway. I can put the leftover towards my credit card on Friday.

I’m quite tired. I had lunch out and a coffee which was about £8 if I remember rightly for a not very nice sandwich. The coffee was nice but I let myself down as I’m trying to have one a day and I have that at home in the morning.

Didn’t do much this evening, just vegged out. Sometimes it’s ok to do nothing.

I really want to get back into exercising. I tend to wake up around 6 or a bit earlier so I could do some home exercises in the morning. I have a resistance band somewhere that I bought when I had hip pain. If I can only find that I could start to do exercises. Perhaps I should also walk to work once or twice a week. I did try walking every day but I got sore feet plus it meant I was late home every day. Both good free forms of exercise (if I can find the resistance band).

Still keeping a record of my spending. It’s too high!

Got no real plans for the weekend. I need to clean, other than that a super relaxed one I think. Might do some of my rag rugging and watch a book. I have knitting group on Saturday. That will be about £4 on a coffee.
