Totally this. Don't miss out on increased employer contributions. It's their job to process changes after all!Ms_Potato_Head said:Don't feel bad about inconveniencing payroll for maximising your pension contributions!Debt at highest: £8k. Debt Free 31/12/2009. Original MFD May 2036, MF Dec 2018.1 -
I’m not going to overpay my pension too much. I did it before and got very resentful seeing the reduced paycheck. It was worth it when I bust the 10k barrier though. I’m just going to chuck £10 a month into Nest.
I have some good news. I was awarded a bursary for a visible mending course at an art college. It’s next week so I think it’s too late to organise accommodation and travel (you might diplomatically ask how I would pay for it). I will email them and say thanks but I don’t get paid until the actual day of the course and I hadn’t booked travel and room. And that I hope the course goes well. I’ll do that tomorrow. I can’t wait to pay off my debt and do another course. It will be a while.
I’ve got some other good news. I have rediscovered my love of Chinese cooking. I am on a Discord related to East Asian food so I post pictures of what I cook there. I only like Chinese food. I will not be making Korean, Vietnamese or Cambodian. I’m also learning Chinese on Duolingo. I don’t know if it’s Mandarin or Cantonese. I kind of thought it’s the language of business. I can say tea, coffee, soup, tofu, water. Not amazing for 10 months.
I’m glossing over the bad news which is that I’m tired and in a bad mood. Roll on the week end. I’ve got £80 in my emergency fund.Credit card 1712

Re the learning Chinese on DuoLingo, I would think of it as a positive what you have learned so far.itsthelittlethings said:I’m not going to overpay my pension too much. Might be worth reviewing your pension to see if you are on track if you already have some idea when you'd like to retire. Are you saying you're going to add £10 to Nest and is this in addition but separate to your workplace pension? Have you checked your state pension?itsthelittlethings said:I’m not going to overpay my pension too much. I did it before and got very resentful seeing the reduced paycheck. Enjoy your workout!
. I did a pilates class yesterday and I've booked in for a zumba class and a core/stretch class later in the week. 1 -
Morning. Gym was ok yesterday, very busy. I feel a bit tired. Bought my train ticket to go and see my mum today.
Spends yesterday, about £8 Tescos.

I am so run down. Very tired. I'm really struggling with shifts at the moment and dreading going into work. I've sent an email today about another job so I'll see if I get a reply. One more day to my holiday. Looking forward to a break.
I was just watching The Traitors. I've never really watched it before. It's ok. It's puzzling to me. I don't really get why people like it so much. I should start watching tv more as I do enjoy it. Now I'm watching something called Black Ops which is great if a little surreal.
I've given Veganuary a rest as I was beginning to feel a bit run down. I did my best. It's definitely made me more open to cutting down on dairy and using it as a treat rather than relying on it. I had also started eating more meat after being semi-vegetarian which I didn't feel good about and I think it will help me to cut down on this.
Money is a bit disastrous. I may have to stay at home next week and will need my emergency fund for food etc. Otherwise tomorrow should be a no spend day. Then I'm doing overtime on Saturday and studying on Sunday.
I don't have anything very exciting to say as I feel like I just work and work at the moment. My computer is starting to get a bit grumpy and I'm dreading having to buy another one.Credit card 1712

Went through all my subscriptions. I have cancelled around £40-50 worth of stuff. Now I just have the basics and a gym membership. I noticed that my service charge went up to £190 in January. Usually it goes up in April.Credit card 1712
