January if often a challenging month for many reasons and you're not alone in feeling that. It's nearing the end and Feb is a short month, then we'll be into spring which will make us all feel better...itsthelittlethings said:I am so run down. Very tired. I'm really struggling with shifts at the moment and dreading going into work. I've sent an email today about another job so I'll see if I get a reply. One more day to my holiday. Looking forward to a break.
I was just watching The Traitors. I've never really watched it before. It's ok. It's puzzling to me. I don't really get why people like it so much. I should start watching tv more as I do enjoy it. Now I'm watching something called Black Ops which is great if a little surreal.
I've given Veganuary a rest as I was beginning to feel a bit run down. I did my best. It's definitely made me more open to cutting down on dairy and using it as a treat rather than relying on it. I had also started eating more meat after being semi-vegetarian which I didn't feel good about and I think it will help me to cut down on this.
Money is a bit disastrous. I may have to stay at home next week and will need my emergency fund for food etc. Otherwise tomorrow should be a no spend day. Then I'm doing overtime on Saturday and studying on Sunday.
I don't have anything very exciting to say as I feel like I just work and work at the moment. My computer is starting to get a bit grumpy and I'm dreading having to buy another one.
Try to keep active and get some natural daylight - I find that helps - with some chocolate too!
Well done on giving Veganuary a try! Maybe you could incorporate it into your week, a bit like Jamie Oliver does meat free Mondays?

itsthelittlethings said:Went through all my subscriptions. I have cancelled around £40-50 worth of stuff. Now I just have the basics and a gym membership. I noticed that my service charge went up to £190 in January. Usually it goes up in April. That's good you have reviewed and cancelled subscriptions. You could put this money towards your credit card and overdraft? It will all count to reducing the amount.I noticed some bills/charges increase in January too, though mostly in April. Council tax, water, internet will all increase. Council tax is reported to increase by at least 5% in most regions in April 2026.I think together with the money from cancelled subscriptions, if you reduced your grocery shopping costs and frequency of shops (more meal planning, more batch cooking and trying to do one supermarket shops a week), have 1 or 2 takeaway coffees a week and don't spend on clothes, you could pay around £300 and you could clear your credit card and overdraft in around 6 months. I think you said it was interest free until October? Also, with January payday approaching, now is a good time to plan and organise next months bills, expenses and spends so as to avoid being in the position you are now at the end of next month, and the month after. The idea of the emergency fund isn't to use it to get to month end.Until January payday, I have £77.80 left for two weeks worth of groceries, I have £10 left in my toiletries budget, I don't have anything in my takeaway coffees/lunches out budget as I spent it in the first two weeks. Everything else I had already accounted for including travel costs.I hope you have had some time to review your previous posts/threads and the comments/suggestions from not just me but other posters too. Cancelling subscriptions is a good start.1

The other job said "send your CV in" but I had a good 1:1 at work today and feel more positive so I'll be staying for now. The pension is pretty decent!
I hope to use the money from the subscriptions towards my debt but my phone has started going on the blink. I was going to get another iPhone but I was talking it over with our temp at work. She is originally from India and used to work in sales. She has an MBA and is really knowledgeable. We got to talking about Android vs iPhone and I remembered that I used to really rate my Samsung Galaxys when I had one. I looked at the prices and compared them and a Samsung is so much cheaper than an iPhone. I've decided to go for a Galaxy. I just have to decide whether to get one now, or wait until my phone really dies. I'm craving a new phone now but then that's normal for me.
I am doing overtime tomorrow and then I'm on holiday for a week. Yay. I'm going to my mum's. We might go out for dinner as I asked her if we could do this for my birthday. present She said she would get me have a birthday meal and a present but I don't really want anything this year and she got me a lovely pair of wellies last year that were quite expensive so I don't want to ask for anything else.
And relax! The washing is on and I'm going to watch a tv show.Credit card 1712

You really need to concentrate on reducing your debt and building a proper emergency fund. You’ve made a good start again today by cancelling the subscriptions
There’s people here giving you very good advice which you seem to ignore?I really hope you have your lightbulb moment soon while your debt is manageable and could easily be paid backMFW 2026 #50: £3,583.49/£25,00007/03/25: Mortgage: £67,000.00

I agree with @MFWannabe I really hope you have a lightbulb moment soon. ✨💡🌟
hopefully before your spending spirals out of control and you end up with a bigger credit card debt and bigger overdraft. But I think you will just carry on posting about spending as you have over the last year without taking much notice until something happens like a big expense or losing your job.
This is a money saving forum and also a place where people can get support with debt.
You are posting about your daily spending, what you want to spend money on, and actually ignoring the comments giving you suggestions on how to improve your current financial position.
