Just chilling before work. I'm about to make a coffee. Veganuary is going well. It's amazing how quickly you get used to no meat products. I'm going to make an oat milk smoothie for breakfast at about 7:30. I'm starting work at 9 today. They moved my place of work to cover a possible rota gap. I don't mind being flexible. It's annoying I don't have the time or the get-up for a trip to the gym.

I applied for another job at my company. It's in events management. My application is ok but I won't get it. It could be an interesting field though.

Still haven't restarted my study after the Christmas break. I'm leaning towards not getting new student loans and studying a second degree. I would only consider this because Geography counts as STEM. Go figure.

What a day! Worked 9-5 today, back at work at 7 tomorrow, need to do a wash and eat this evening. I’m feeling dissatisfied at work as I didn’t get the cost of living increase. It would only have been about £650 so all in all I’m not too fussed but I can’t shake the feeling that I didn’t get it as they don’t think I’m performing. I had only been there two months so I’m hoping it’s that but I feel like they could have given it to me if they wanted.

Anyway, no good worrying about the future. I’m going to put the radio on in a bit and eat chips for dinner. I don’t have the energy to cook in the week so I usually have to cook on a Friday night or at the weekend and eat stuff during the week. I have put a big portion in and will have them with vegan mayonnaise and ketchup.

Not sure I’ve got much planned for the weekend. I have a to-do list but I know there is nothing major on it.

Just listening to 6 Music. There is a band on who sound a bit like Wolf Alice. I only know what Wolf Alice sound like as my niece is a fan!

My company do this, you have to have been employed with them for a certain period before you become eligible for any bonus’s/rewards or increases etc so I strongly suspect this is it.

I came on here to say exactly thesame thing. You probably joined after a cutoff date. Try not to take it personally.

Just spent £80 on clothes. I have ordered a bag so I can send some back as well. You get points for sending the clothes back. I think I'm due some new clothes. I bought a few work clothes as well. I'm quite loving my job at the moment. I also bought some hair serum. Middle aged women and their hair are a lucrative market, I can tell you! It cost £24.

Roll on the weekend. I need to buy some washing up liquid from the refill shop and Sensodyne (sp?) from Tescos. I do like to keep a stock of stuff in the house.

Had dinner chez famille last night. We had poke bowls as I'm vegan for January so I can just add tofu instead of fish. The generation down were not impressed, not exactly winter food. They're buying plates and stuff for their new home. Sadly there is a bit of a gap between where they are now and what they can make happen! We had a bit of a mini argument about getting a sofa.

My bid to listen to 26 cds in 26 is going well. I have lost my Ben Watts cd (Everything but the Girl) but just listened to Billie Eilish. I think my Ben Watts cd is in another case. Annoying.

Right. No more internet time. Safe weekend.

  • Bought some pickling stuff when I went to get a washing up liquid refill. Might do some beetroot if I feel better tomorrow. Also a jar to make turmeric shots. £25 spent. £15 in Aldi on lunches (HOW?).

Need to wash up and tidy.

I’ve decided I’m going to start paying £25 a month towards my Nest pension. I’d do it through work but in my experience payroll don’t like you messing around with your contribution, especially as they will put their contributions up to! I already pay £10 a month towards Nest. Got a letter from a previous employer and I’m getting £360 a year from my contributions (I overpaid). I don’t think that’s too bad for 2 years. There was another part to that pension too.

  • Morning.

No no spend day today as £4 on a coffee for knitting group. On the way I need to post a film to be developed. It’s all paid for already apart from the postage. £3.20 hopefully.

Need to do the washing up and portion up my pasta bake. Plus the Saturday vacuuming.

Tomorrow I will study two units of my Open University access course. Also make a quick beetroot pickle. Need to water all my houseplants (a lockdown hangover) as I’m away next week as well.

Also need to throw a wash on.

One more coffee then I’m on water.

I’m going to the gym tomorrow.

I did another assessment on the Stepchange website. I ticked “I can easily afford to heat my home”. They suggested I spend less on clothes and toiletries which I totally get but I also said “I don’t see how I can reduce this”. They suggested I save £25 towards emergencies which I’m trying to do. I’d highly recommend them. If I can just get a handle on money and work I’ll be ok. I feel a lot better since I started getting on top of my money. First step is to face the debt (I know it’s not a lot). They suggested shopping around for utilities etc. My problem is I’m a very loyal consumer. I’ve been with British Gas for 7 years and they probably overcharge me £10 a month at a guess.

Saturday Kitchen in a bit. My mum got me into it.

Last but not least I need £300 for a new kitchen tap. Maybe when I’ve paid my debt off and freed up £200 a month. My flat is starting to look a bit dilapidated.

  • I just had a homemade turmeric shot. Phew! I will start making them much less strong. I don’t hold with herbal remedies as they can be dangerous. Might pour this batch away as it’s fiery! Hopefully should be ok. Tastes just like the ones you get in the supermarket. Phew! Ah!

Maybe I will message my GP to check. Bet they’d love that.
