Just got a follow up email saying the text was sent in error. Doesn't bode well.HonestJohn said:iii have started setting up accounts for x-o users. This has happened to me despite requesting I was not transferred. I received a text today that went into my spam. It has my new iii account number so I was able to log into my new account. All my personal details have been set up but no other data hsas been transferred yet.
What it indicates to me, based on too many years as an IT Project Manager, is that they did a dry run last weekend to test the process before the cutover.
Looks like someone forgot to send the messages to some sort of dummy output file.0 -

Looks like someone forgot to send the messages to some sort of dummy output file.If it was test run, then it's got problems. My partner & I have a joint account at Jarvis with me being the first-named. On Sunday morning, my partner received two identical SMS messages, then a single follow-up apology, but nothing for me...[It's irrelevant for us - we told Jarvis not to transfer our account to Interactive Investors, our last share holdings were transferred out to share certificates yesterday and the cash balance sent to our bank account. Final transaction & cash statements for the full five years we've had the account were downloaded this morning. Only issue outstanding is a dividend payment due in July which Jarvis assured me would be sent to our bank account automatically.]

can anyone help please. I used Jarvis merely to buy carnival shares a few years ago in order to get shareholder benefits when cruising. With this move once charges start its going to cost me £4.99 per month. I dont understand how I can now "have these shares" if i close the account with this changeover. Ideally I want to retain my shares, be able to access proof for carnival to grant me their perks but not sell the shares if possible.
Any info would be great as I am a total novice on what to do next, although Im not wanting to pay their charges.
Loook forward to responses please0 -
Transfer your shares to an alternative broker, who charges less or doesn't charge. This is discussed earlier in the thread, and the main suggestions are IWeb and Trading 212.emricjk said:can anyone help please. Paper share certificates are being phased out. The options to trade them are greatly reducing likewise the cost of trading them is increasing. As is a manual rather than electronic process.pafpcg said:our last share holdings were transferred out to share certificates yesterday0 -

Instructed Jarvis categorically not to even send any of my personal datato ii. Text and mail received from ii, so clearly they have done so.Shares made it to lightyear all electronically, still waiting for cash (had to sell onethey couldn't transfer) so hopefully cash will be transferred soon as I also havecash isa with lightyear that I can transfer it to (and thanks to BoE, it's still at 4.25%as they give the base rate). When that happens, it just leaves a couple of late dividends in the next month.1 -
Did you categorically give them an instruction to close your account? Once any outstanding matters were cleared.Electrickery said:pafpcg said:AlanP_2 said:

... I am writing to explicitly prohibit you from providing any of my
personal information to them under the protection afforded my by the Data
Protection Act ...... Please ensure that you immediately cancel any deal you may arranged for
the transfer of my account with said company as you do not have my consent
to do so ...Even had a reply which looked promising:'I can confirm that we have updated our records so that your data and accounts will not be moved to ii.'After a couple of attempts, got an S&S ISA set up and transfer request at beginning of June.Bit puzzled why anyone should need to mention closing the account when you aretransferring out to a different provider, I would have thought closing the accountis the obvious final step when it's all completed!0 -
Not with Jarvis but I've used in specie broker transfer services and a few times the accounts remained open but empty.Electrickery said:Hoenir said:

I did not think I needed to tell them to close an empty account after I had also told them not to transfer it. Maybe their fee depends on the number of accounts they transfer?wmb194 said:
