My asparagus crowns have arrived, so those really do need planting today. Of course the beds aren't prepped yet...1
-
- Unpack and put away the bags of previously frozen cloth (clothes moths) - ongoing
- Clear and tidy my craft room so it's useable - progress made and OH has put up the blind so it looks a lot better than the disintegrating curtains- Sell the stuff I need to sell - will start at the weekend
- Start planting seeds - testing viability atm, may just chuck and use the unopened packets I have - though I got a very happy squash plant out of it
- Set up the planter for plants (arriving mid May apparently)
- Move the pot which is where the planter needs to be and then move the planter- Set up the herb garden (a small area of unclaimed lawn down the side of our house) - see #5- Sew the bags to keep silver stuff in (which has been promised since last November) - this is on the back-burner atm as I have a very fiddly 1930's style dress to finish for the 1st May Bank Holiday (hope it fits!)
- Pay the window cleaners. I've actually just emailed them to cancel as we've moved - only 6 months ago!2024 Fashion on the Ration - 10/66 coupons used

Small things today but pleased with:
Moving cupboard door to sensible place
Cleaning a pair of trainers
Picking up a piece of thread on the carpet that has been annoying me for three days 😂3 -

Little OAT dealt with here: the last few places I have worked have sent me home after leaving, with various cacti and succulents in teeny-tiny pots. The whole collection got repotted into fresh pots and appropriate compost this morning and put back in the conservatory on a new, dark green tray 👏 In t(e black pots it looked smart enough for Mr KK to notice it without prompting when he got home this evening 😊

Those cacti look very smart @KajiKita. I’m afraid my stupid cats would end up with spikes in their whiskers so no go for me sadly.Tilly Tidying andPADing in 2024 £250.62

Two long overdue OAT emails sent today.
First to the research team for a 2 year vaccination trial I’m taking part in asking whether I’m actually going to get paid stipends as outlined or do I have to wait until I’ve completed it. By my reckoning they owe me £327.
Second one to our leaseholder which I have absolutely no expectation they will respond to as we only pay £50 a year in ground rent. This is complicated but basically our right of way to a communal bin area has been removed by other neighbours. One removed the path to plant a flower bed (not on her property) but put a path further down. The owner of that property (who lets it out) took that path up and turfed it! We’ve approached both parties but they’re not engaging with us. In the meantime I walk over the turf to get to my bin but would prefer a path reinstating - said it was complicated!Tilly Tidying andPADing in 2024 £250.62

Gates were made for the veg plot, much to the dog's disappointment, and I then prepped the asparagus beds and planted the asparagus. These crowns look better than the last lot (which had clipped roots and looked dry) and were sprouting in the packets. Hopefully I've done a reasonable job of planting them and they'll survive.
I'm hoping that the cats won't both going to inspect as the fencing will be too much hassle (they can get under the mesh if they really want to). I also planted a going-to-seed cowslip that I bought this morning for £2.95 - it's now in the orchard, and transplanted two aquilegias from the asparagus bed into a flowerbed.
I went to a very nice nursery this morning, which has some nice plants at good prices. So if I get my list finished this weekend I might let myself go a buy plants to fill the spaces next week so I have something to do over the bank holiday weekend!
List includes:- Plant clematis (5 of them, bought a week ago) and put up wire
- Build and install last of the raised beds (one almost done, two/three left depending on how I stick the bits together)
- Build and install raspberry frames ready to net
- Weed strawberry bed and net
- Build rest of frames for salad planters and sow salad
- Fill pots and plant summer bulbs otherwise summer will be over
- Weed veg beds and sow more veg
- Build fruit cages
- Pot up veg plants for greenhouse
- Sow more seeds inside/in greenhouse

Bit of a low here which includes task paralysis (PIP, you are so right in your comment about grief and seasons on my thread) but I did briefly go out to get some more topsoil so that DS1 could crack on with his lawn levelling project. He also built the raised bed for me yesterday ready for when I pot on the tomatoes. My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

They look great @KajiKita, loving that bag too!
Very productive enquiries @Sallyforth. That's a nice amount of dosh, and what a cheek of your neighbour! Is this the same starey neighbour or is everyone around you a bit unhinged 😂
You're doing so well @redofromstart, and that includes all the times you feel like you're not. Feeling the necessary feelings is the productivest thing a human can do x4 -
That bag @PennysIntoPounds is Mr KK’s and is what he uses to take his flask and sandwich box into work. It is of course a 1942 WW2 bag … 😉
Hugs @redofromstart, all of what PiP said x
