NST April 2025 A Pirate Life For Me

@f0xh0les, I too be 'avin me £50 ‘thank you booty’ from NW today – yo ho ho! I swear I’ll stop talkin’ like a pirate soon… maybe. 😅
Today was a no-spend day (NSD 1 in the bag)! Grateful today for: an email from the captain (CEO) confirming a 3% pay rise for crew – a few extra doubloons in the chest! Also managed to conquer the mountain o’ laundry and got it all dry thanks to this glorious weather we’re 'avin. And tonight, I’ve got the ship to myself – perfect time to swab the deck before the scallywags return later and tomorrow!

Congratulations Idee. I have 4 days on my own - Mr Builder will be back on Monday. The 3 new units are in place but don't have drawers yet, so I can't move more things into the kitchen. I have a nearly full bag of rubbish and bags of paper and cans and bottles. Eaten lots of leftover bits which needed up and have peeled and chopped about half of a very full bag for life - celery and cucumber sticks have been eaten but I have more celery. Yesterday I went for my blood tests and then ate at the infirmary - after about 15 hours fasting I didn't trust myself to take food in my bag there. Caught the bus home. There were no cups at the water fountains so I didn't take a urine sample (new containers are only 1 cm across at the top and no chance of getting it in there. Took my sample first thing this morning but later accepted I wasn't going anywhere today. Will try again tomorrow.
Grateful for veg sticks, a good book, a silly series playing in the background whist I work. Cousin phoned me last night to thank me for the card I sent.10 -
Congratulations @ldee2111, fantastic news! 🎉🥳
I've finished laying both stepping stones paths, rewarded myself with a hot chocolate with mini marshmallows on top 😋 Packed my bag & headed to mum's for a girly night. She treated us to a Chinese, I supplied a face mask (enough in the sachet to do hers & my faces), then I sewed up & stuffed my gonk whilst we watched TV.
Today I walked into town to get my haircut, then on my return to mum's, we looked through all her CDs, put them altogether & sorted through some boxes. 2 bags for life full for the CS.
Ate the other half of my Chinese for dinner, came home (had a nap 😂 ) then de-turfed some of the lawn to widen a border & started to weed it.
Finished my book in the bath, then knitted arms for my gonk.
Grateful for my cousin being keen to meet up in the summer to celebrate our big upcoming birthdays (we were born 3 weeks apart), time with mum, more done in the garden, good booksUse it up, wear it out

had a text message late last night to say my blood test showed a vitamin B9 deficiency and the doctor would be sending a prescription through to the pharmacy. Checked and symptoms include extreme fatigue, mouth ulcers, the depression dip I picked up on about 3 weeks ago and breathing difficulties - I really must stop beating myself up for being lazy when there's genuinely something wrong. Doctor had added a few dietary sources too including broccoli and citrus fruit
Waited in all morning for my prescription pills (ordered last week) to arrive. Ate as it was past lunch time and I'd been awake since before 6 am. Walked to the taxi office, went to the infirmary, dropped off the urine sample, picked up blood test forms at the doctor's (to be done in 4 - 6 weeks), booked an appointment with the practice nurse for my diabetic review and then went downstairs to the pharmacy to see if they had the prescription for the new tablet. She said it could be collected after 4 pm on Monday or would be delivered after that but I must have looked pitiful - she offered to make it up for me if I waited, so I can start the folic acid tablets today.
The bus stop was already at the stop but I managed to get across to it before it went. I had hoped to carry on to the SM but was far too tired. Ordered medicinal Chinese (lots of broccoli) and been resting ever since. Thinking I'll put together a big food order to be delivered on Wednesday when the lino goes down, then I can fill the fridge-freezer and other units as the go back in the kitchen.
Grateful for a diagnosis that's fairly benign and easily correctible, for a pleasant sunny day, for Chinese food.9 -
Good to hear there is something that can be done to help you get better @grandmanerd. Rest up & concentrate on getting better, everything else can wait.

Morning routine done. Packed a picnic, then me & DH met DS1 in town & travelled to the south islands. Did lots of exploring, took lots of photos & discovered a new place.
On the way home, we stopped off at a friend's. She gave us compost & trays, as she's taking her greenhouse down. Will come in very handy.
Added the finishing touches to a gonk, & started another one, whilst watching more of a series.
Grateful for living in a beautiful place, fun with 2 of my menfolk, craftingUse it up, wear it out

An extra hour in bed - didn't have to wake anyone for work 😊
Headed to town after breakfast. Met a customer wanting me to make her a memory cushion, then went shopping with mum.
Was tired, but managed to stay awake & unpick then replace 2 coat zips. Knitted more gonk after tea.
Grateful for good ideas to help someone, a beautiful day, getting 2 sewing jobs done & time to knitUse it up, wear it out

Good morning all. Just a quick check in to say I'm still here. Feeling a bit brighter but still falling asleep all the time - wake up properly at around 5.30 am, take all my pills and fall asleep the moment I start to continue with my book (sometimes wake myself again when the book hits the floor). I managed to spill a cold drink on my clean dress yesterday but much better than it going on the laptop. Watched 1.5 episodes of a series in dribs and drabs (after a fortnight's pause) so my concentration is a bit better. Not sure what to do about food. I should continue with chopping and peeling veg as I have 2 jars of sauce and could make veg curry and pasta bake with very little effort. Meanwhile I keep having another lump off the block of hard cheese.
Our Pirate Journey
We took on wine, brandy and some beer in France (+ meat and some cheese), took shelter during the worst of the storm. now carrying on past Portugal and Spain, heading for West Africa. We may have passed a Russian spy submarine in the Channel but passed the details onto the coastguards and left them to deal with it. Any ideas for seeking out target ships (small to medium sized yachts?) and does anyone have any requests for food or household goods we could acquire on the way.8 -
Thanks for the lovely congratulations messages on paying off the mortgage. ❤️
Still only on NSD 1. DS is back from his grandparents and has decided he wants to spend the second week of the Easter holidays at home. OH and I are both working, so fingers crossed he doesn’t get too bored—but we’re hoping to head to the family caravan from Thursday evening.
Today I’ve left DS and OH to computer games while I’ve been in my happy place—pottering about, clearing and cleaning little bits and bobs, listing eight items on V!ntD, and packaging up one that’s already sold.
Feeling grateful today for a chilled-out kind of day, with all of us getting to spend our time how we like; for breakfast rolls with tasty fillings cooked up by OH; and for good family telly… can’t wait to watch the Gladiators final later with my wee family.
Hope you have a good week turtles! 🐢 Xx

Good to hear you're on the mend @grandmanerd. You & your parrot can observe us deckhands from the Captain's quarters. How about collecting some coconuts & some spices en route? If we get bored, we can always play bowls or through them at each other! 😂

A little lie in today after the cat woke me up a couple of times. Did a 5 mile walk after breakfast. A lady down the road was in her garden & asked if we were Ramblers. Said we weren't, just lived up the road & enjoyed going for walks. Told her we'd lived in this house for over 20 years, she said she'd never noticed us around our house before! Gotta love em! 🤣
Did 2 sewing jobs this afternoon, then cut the grass after tea. A lady I know called past, to see if we'd seen a strange car at her cousin's across the road, one day last week. He'd had some things taken whilst he was at work. Most folk don't lock their doors still, on our island, but times are changing & not for the better!!
Grateful for a different walk, good TV series (set in Oz), getting the grass cut before the heavy rain beganUse it up, wear it out
