British Gas Fixed Tariff v49 from 25 March 25 newsletter

Options
Hi All,

I have tried to access the tariff advertised in the MSE newsletter yesterday British Gas Fixed Tariff v49 via the Cheap Energy Club, but this tariff does not appear in any of my comparison results.
I could not compare against my current Hive Saver rate as it was not listed but the tool did compare me against the British Gas standard rate so I would have thought it should still list this new fixed tariff V49.

Has anyone else had this issue?  How have you managed to access the new v49 tariff?

Thanks a lot

If you are existing BG customer possible CEC only shows other suppliers tariffs to switch to.

v49 is available via new customer quote page and is option for existing customers to switch to via BG account portal.

  • Thank you. This may mean the MSE cash back is not available but I will check the BG pages

My current BG Fixed Lighter 12M V3 is £20 cheaper than this tariff. Will check it out when my current tariff expires in May.

I am also not seeing this tariff.  I'm an existing BG customer, and while I can see it when I log into my BG account of course I won't get the cashback.

I have had the same problem accessing BG v49. I have emailed the contact address for energy advice so will wait and see. But this is is disappointing and I hope this issue is quickly corrected.

Just tried Sunshine050724 link. It takes you to BG website which currently has problems!!!!!
  • I’m also having the same problem. I am currently with British Gas and would like to switch and claim the cashback but the deal is not showing in my offers. It clearly states the deal is available to existing British Gas customers and as this cashback deal is only available until tomorrow at 5-15 I hope someone can resolve this problem. Thanks.

Hi - I've checked with colleagues and we're aware of a problem with industry data that means that some existing BG customers won't see the exclusive tariff in the Energy Club.

A suggested workaround is to specify a different provider as your current provider in the Cheap Energy Club, and you'll then be able to see the BG offer.

If you do this, there's a possibility your tariff switch will need an extra nudge from our team, so if your tariff doesn't get changed on your BG account in the next couple of weeks, drop an email to energyclub@moneysavingexpert.com so we can take a look and prod things where necessary.

    Hi there.

I'm already with British Gas, and it didn't show up for me, so I've specified another provider, which showed up as per the above method then went through the process, I received an e-mail confirmation via MSE Cheap Energy Club.  I'll update this thread if and when my tariff switches to the new one.
