  • Hi hun glad you are feeling more positive, you will get through this and everyone here will help you.

Fingers crossed about the doctors, though they should not deduct if off your holiday you are entitled to the time off.

You definitely can get through it. It's overwhelming at first but a few months down the line you will be amazed at the progress that can be made!
  • You do not need to have entitlement to holiday to visit the doctor. Make yourself an appointment and let your superior know you have to see the doctor. They can not refuse you permission.

  • Hi, Scared - firstly can i say well done for coming on here and admitting that there's a problem. We've all been there and you really are among friends. There's no shame in trying to do well for yourself and wanting a better life.

When it comes to depression all I can say is that I've been there, done that, worn the t-shirt! When I first recognised I had a problem, I went to my own GP and he was useless. I rearranged an appointment with another GP and she was fantastic. She was young and willing to discuss with me what the possible solutions were for treating it. She gave me the option of trying anti-depressants and explained that if your mood is just really down all the time, the body sometimes forgets how to be positive, hence the depression and sometimes the need for pills to try and get back to a happier plateau. I opted to try counselling first and that made a big enough difference that I didn't need to try pills. There are a few options there for you, and your GP will be best placed to let you know the options. Either way, admitting to the problem is the start of the solution, so you've made a real positive first step on the way to making things better.

2 years ago I had depression, insomnia and was suffering regular panic attacks with £34K worth of debt (which mostly came from looking after my father when he was ill). Now I have £4K of debt, and the depression is largely a thing of the past. I still have sleepless nights when an unexpected bill comes in and I can't pay it for a few weeks, and I still hate to hear the phone ring at home as it reminds me of when it used to ring 20 or 30 times a day from various Collections departments, but I'm almost out of the trap I was in. Another 6 or 7 months and I should be debt-free and I can close a chapter on a bad part of my life.

I've no reason to doubt that you can turn your life around too and at least here you're in non-judgemental company.
Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!
  • Good to see you know you can get through this.

Am having my own (different) crisis at the moment, but I was where you are 14 months ago, and now my life is very different. Hang on in there, you are not alone, and I will try to post a more helpful response in due course. For now, ***HUGS*** to you. xx

Hi, don't want to panic you but your No1 priority needs to be to get to the GP. If you have been having thoughts of suicide then this is an emergency situation and GPs always have emergency appointments. If this means going in works time then even if they don't pay you for the time, they won't/can't refuse to let you go to the doctors.

Sorry if this sounds nagging but I have been where you are (still am from the money point of view) and am concerned that you put your medical needs first at this point.

    Hugs T
  • Glad you sound a little better Scared, and you ARE protected, you're amongst friends (and that slightly insane family i mentioned) now, this forum is amazing. It's supportive, non judgemental and utterly utterly addictive! Welcome to the insanity on here!

You will get through this, just look at my signature for my debts, I KNOW I'll get there, it#ll just take a bit of time. Keep your chin up, make that Doctors appointment and come and talk to us on here when you can.

    Big hugs to you sweetie.

  • Hi and thanks for updating us... You say you will get your paperwork ready tonight even if its only putting it all together in one place, well this is the right attitude.
Try not to look at it in one big picture. Take it in small chunks and deal with a little of it at a time then it does not become overwhelming. Take baby steps and eventually you will start making head way.

So... Today is (hopefully) the doctors and putting all your paperwork together and maybe each debt in indiviaual piles?

Thats a big step forward from how you were yesterday.

    Good luck.
