Glad the tax issue is sorted. Hope the anaemia is easily resolved."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee2

Thanks @jwil and @MovingForwards
I have a new neighbour. The renters have moved on and the owner moved in. When I moved in a neighbour bought me a plant, so I bought new neighbour a bunch of freesias (pay it forward)...
The last lot slammed the door on the way out several times a day and my house shook. The door is no longer slammed

I missed the deadline for a job I was going to apply for...
I found 4 coffee cups made by a local pottery I like that stopped producing in the 1970s. The cups are beautiful. In a charity shop so I bought 2 for £5. I will go back for the other 2 tomorrow when a friend drops off £10 she owes me. Makes up a tiny bit for my recent china losses...
The shop I go to for my natural products uses fragrance for her candles. They will swap the fragrance for essential oils and I got to choose my essential oils. I will keep some for C presents I think...
Reading this back I am very spendy focused, so maybe not surprising I am overspending, and not keeping within a budget. I should be embracing NSDs but I want to buy coffees, chocolate and flowers and candles right now. I also want to buy wine but I am resisting that one!
Gratitudes
My joints are not painful
The beautiful cups for not much money
Spoke to a lovely friend who showed me the beautiful shawl she is knitting for me
I hope you have had a good dayIf you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

Treacle (molasses) cookies - really great as an iron source:
My second favorite cookie is Molasses Cookies (I got a blue ribbon at the county fair for cooking these – the only thing I knew how to cook at the time)
¼ cup molasses 1 egg
1 cup sugar 3/4 cup margarine, melted
2 cups flour 1 teaspoon cinnamon (5ml)
1 teaspoon baking soda (5ml) ½ teaspoon salt (2.5 ml)
½ teaspoon cloves (2.5ml) ½ teaspoon ginger (2.5ml)
Melt the margarine in a small pan. Mix molasses, egg, and sugar in a bowl. Add margarine to bowl and stir. Put the dry ingredients together and add slowly to the bowl stirring as you go. Make spoon-sized globs of dough and place on cookie sheet (you can roll them in sugar before putting them on the sheet, but it is optional). Bake at 375° F (about 190C) for 8 to 10 minutes until round and flat, but still slightly soft. Don’t put the dough in the refrigerator overnight unless you want the cookies to become ginger cookies (the flavor changes).

Thanks @Sun_Addict

Thank you @weenancyinAmerica so kind of you to post a recipe! I actually have a jar of blackstrap molasses, but I had forgotten about the iron content. I will bake the cookies subbing almond meal for the flour as I do not eat wheat (I hope it works) I will post to let you know
Up early and walked to the GP and back. I usually cycle but I have a puncture. It took 50 minutes each way. I am tired now! I left my purse behind so I couldn't take transport home or buy coffee (MSE) It started raining on the way back and a beautiful rainbow appeared
My neck feels stiff and sore despite using my special pillow.
I will be making soup today and cooking a batch of chickpeas that I will turn into a chickpea and spinach curry (MSE)
I have to stay in waiting for a delivery. I ordered a little rug for the front door. I have been looking at it for 6 months, so not an impulse buy. It is a reasonable price for what it is...
A new friend wants to meet either today or Saturday or Sunday...I've been given lots of possibles and don't want to hurt her feelings, but I want the weekend to myself actually. Unscheduled!
Off to start the soup
We have made it to the end of the week! Well done us

Big hooray for door no longer being slammed 😊
If you missed the deadline then your brain was preventing you from doing something that wasn't right for you at the moment. If there are elements of it you're into you can always email them and say 'I noticed you recently advertised for x, I'm really interested in x, please let me know if you have any ad hoc jobs needing x as I would love to work with you'
You are one of the most grounded and adaptable people on these forums, if your budget isn't working for you maybe it's time to look at the budget instead of looking for ways to blame you! You're allowed wine, candles, flowers, chocolate, coffees as long as the roof over your head is secure and the bills are getting paid. Are there bits of the budget that can be re-apportioned? Are there ways to get those lovely things in a different or cheaper way than initial yearnings suggest?
Well done on the big walk, and hope you and your neck sleep well tonight.
It's fine to say to friend 'thank you so much but actually I'm knackered, could we meet on x day instead'.
I'm excited by your little rug for the front door, pics if you're happy to when it arrives please!8
