Don't beat yourself up about eating comfort food if that's what your body is wanting, it's not like you stuff yourself with junk all day every day.
Have you got the seasons-changing-unsettledness do you think?4 -
Thanks @PennysIntoPounds you are right. I don't eat junk all the time and I am now craving healthy food again.
I made a big pot of soup that was lovely. I defrosted a turkey leg to make a slow cooker turkey curry tomorrow
A friend left early this morning. It was a friend who is very different to me so the things we did were not enjoyable to me. It didn't matter for such a short time and I wanted her to have a good visit. She did.
ANGST
I spent quite a bit. I'm too quick to say I will pay (I think it is because they are my guests and that is how I've been raised.) Again the culprit was food and drink, none of it particularly enjoyable, so I consider it frittering.
ACTION
I am definitely going to start taking a vintage flask down to the beach with a blanket I used to have in my car. If I can add some lovely enamel mugs and some home made biscuits. Hopefully that will keep us out of coffee shops! I worked out I spent £20 on hot drinks in 24 hours and that doesn't include cakes! Everyone loves my tahini chocolate cookies so I will bake a batch before guests arrive...
I have had a rare NSD thank goodness

While it would have been much more preferable to have enjoyed the spends, you have been a lovely friend and hostess. I'm sure you can replace the money soon enough especially when you get your minted mojo.
Flask and home-baking sound like great ideas for the near future.
Well done on the NSD and healthier eating.
Do join us on our getting Outstanding Annoying Tasks thread if you fancy it anytime, that list is exactly the sort of thing we're all trying to tackle!
New Autumn thread started just today, and it's named after a Keats quote so it's well classy innit

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!4 -

There should have been a 'done' in that last post, we're definitely not trying to acquire them.
Well pop over to post anytime, it's surprising how many things that you really don't want to do can be progressed when an OAT has been identified and claimed as 'will get done' (eventually but at least in a seasonal timescale)4 -
You're new venture sounds great and there's the opportunity of only doing certain weeks / months throughout the year, gaining the most appropriate personal life / hosting balance.
Glad to see you're strength coming through with closing the doors to family bank.
If you do take on drains cover, check what they will deal with eg full repairs / replacement or just flush and camera with separate charge for any work.
Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.4 -
Thank you @Watty1 the cookies are indeed delicious. I freestyle them so no recipe as such. I can say what I put in varies, but I make them then roll in white sesame seeds before baking for between 10 and 15 minutes. Cookie dough includes almond flour/meal, tahini, olive oil, chocolate drops, an egg or flaxseeds...
Thanks @MovingForwards I'm going to measure demand and think about the times that suit me best, as you say it is about the best balance for me
Thanks @PennysIntoPounds
I like the idea of a seasonal timescale!

Today, I picked up 3 glasses. They were 30p each and will replace the 3 small ones I broke a few weeks back.
I posted some wool to a friend. I bought it for a few pounds. It is pure new wool! Friend knitting me a small cape for my Christmas present
Yesterday...
Bread-maker dropped off at the CS
Bought a great desk lamp for £5 in one CS yesterday and found the replacement bulbs in another for 50p each!
I slept poorly so just got up rather than toss and turn. As a result the kitchen was cleaned. Soup, stock, a salad, and burgers made. Despite this I still ate crisps
I progressed on the plumber issue. I sent out 5 requests for help/info. All came back so that is good. Friend coming for the weekend on Saturday. I need it sorted by then
Terrible rain! I used my dehumidifier for the first time this year. The damp corner generated a lot of water! I need to speak to neighbour about the gutter but can't seem to pluck up the courage. Feeling wimpey...
Still unsettled but will have a bath tonight with lavender oil in the hope of a good night's sleep
It is very windy. Does anyone use a chimney balloon or a chimney sheep? I would like to buy the latter but I read it might encourage moths? Anyone have either?
Hope everyone is having a decent dayIf you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

Excellent purchases and productivity.
This rain might be the perfect time for you to approach neighbour, take pics as well if it shows up in photos for future records.
Don't worry too much about it, the worst they can say is 'not my problem' then you'll know where you stand. Most likely they'll be a bit embarrassed and stressed so maybe pop round to raise it and leave quickly with an 'obviously I had to let you know, alright to ring over the weekend once you've had a chance to think about it?'
You'll be fine x4
