Dia, ah, the favoured cups.... business lesson not to mix personal treasured stuff with the business.  It's one of those lightbulb moments that happens, which only seems obvious after the fact.  I suspect it's a learning curve that having paying guests in your home (work) isn't that same as having friends in (pleasure) and takes a mental shift in more areas than you realise at the time.  I take my hat off to you doing this for income as I'm not sure I would deal with it as well as you (my tolerance level is well below par) 😄

I didn't know we were expecting shooting stars but DH was out night fishing at the weekend and captured a beautiful photo of the moon and a couple across the estuary, so I will have a look out tonight and hope that the light pollution doesn't cancel them out.

I think your way of mixing your chores with more uplifting things is a great way to get the mundane done alongside the things you want to work on. I have been getting up a little earlier, even when I don't want to and getting some of the dull but necessary done in that time. I'm not a great one for self-help books/writers but was researching Mel Robbins to help someone out on a project and rather like two of her concepts - Let Them (about not letting other people's actions etc bother you) and Just Do It - the latter being roughly if you need/want/need to want to do something instead of asking yourself how you feel about it, just get on and get it done.

The Victorian wardrobe sounds lovely and won't be around for long. Can you put some of the guest money towards it as its an investment in your home or is it all allocated elsewhere? Make sure the shop is including free delivery before you say 'you've got yourself a deal'!

Dia I think the fact it fits the space is a good omen! And it's such a good idea to get shoes out of the way in the hall

Yes, thanks @Tresinia511 and @PennysIntoPounds I have a small box at the front door. There isn't really a hall so the wardrobe is a solution to that. I will pop there tomorrow and buy it if it is still there. I will have to steal from the EF but I can put the money back next week. I don't really like doing so as it isn't an emergency is it? However, I've been looking for something like it since moving here. So...

Cooking for the guests and doing YS sausages, roasted cabbage, some pasta in hm tomato sauce! Will have to do  :)

That's a good mse attitude to have but if you know you'll be replacing the money next week it is fine to move your own money around to match the timelines of reality

Yes, I agree @PennysIntoPounds...just noticed your signature and v. jealous that you have read 36 books this year! I lag woefully behind...
