Dia, ah, the favoured cups.... business lesson not to mix personal treasured stuff with the business. It's one of those lightbulb moments that happens, which only seems obvious after the fact. I suspect it's a learning curve that having paying guests in your home (work) isn't that same as having friends in (pleasure) and takes a mental shift in more areas than you realise at the time. I take my hat off to you doing this for income as I'm not sure I would deal with it as well as you (my tolerance level is well below par) 😄4

Thanks @Sun_Addict you are a veggie fan like me so soup is a no brainer!
Thanks @Tresinia511 you are right. It was indeed obvious after the fact!
So, today has been better. I worked on a project most of the day with good results. Instead of feeling drained I was more energetic, although that wasn't hard given my starting point
Not much drudge done...
Washing load and out
Changed sheets in guest room
Unloaded dishwasher
Food shop ordered (this took ages for some reason)
Kitchen is still a bomb site, just less a bomb site than yesterday. I will tackle this later.
For the guests I have a YS cheese and garlic flatbread. I will be making a ham and egg salad to go with it. Easy.
I will do a sink full of washing up but it looks like at least 3 goes in there.
I have been breaking dishes because of the state of the kitchen and not being able to function properly in there...
I will return to my project later this evening. But, a satisfying day for me.
I will try to get the guests to come for a walk about nine to see the night sky. The line up of the planets should be visible and there may even be shooting stars. Go out yourself if you can

I didn't know we were expecting shooting stars but DH was out night fishing at the weekend and captured a beautiful photo of the moon and a couple across the estuary, so I will have a look out tonight and hope that the light pollution doesn't cancel them out.
I think your way of mixing your chores with more uplifting things is a great way to get the mundane done alongside the things you want to work on. I have been getting up a little earlier, even when I don't want to and getting some of the dull but necessary done in that time. I'm not a great one for self-help books/writers but was researching Mel Robbins to help someone out on a project and rather like two of her concepts - Let Them (about not letting other people's actions etc bother you) and Just Do It - the latter being roughly if you need/want/need to want to do something instead of asking yourself how you feel about it, just get on and get it done.

Thank you @joeyjimbles
I'm finding doing more rewarding things during the day feels like my days are not being wasted. They have less of a 'rinse and repeat' pointlessness...
I know of Mel Robbins and like the Let Them concept.
As regards drudge work I think you are right. I should get up earlier and get them out of the way!
We have a very bright moon, so it may be too bright for enjoying the skies but I will try to go...If you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

Last night I was up until late...I wanted to leave the kitchen vaguely orderly so I washed up before turning in
I was up working on the new business idea. The signs are good. I will keep you updated...
I had a nice walk into town to check a SH shop for a wardrobe, a bookcase, and also a comfy reading chair for the bedroom No luck...it was nice to walk. (Since having guests I have walked less) There is a cute Victorian wardrobe with a drawer at the bottom that would be great for shoes. The plan is to stick it under the stairs for coats and clothes that have been worn. They said it was £140 but they would reduce it by 10%, so £126...I'm not sure, but otoh it fits the space...
I found an oil/vinegar bottle in the CS for £1. I usually use a jar but it gets messy and takes more space than this does.
Tiredness is still an issue. I bought some foil and some baking paper so I can line the air fryer. This will save me washing it out every day. I'm also allowing myself to use the dishwasher more...Making a tomato sauce that I freeze and use for different dishes has proved a winner too...small wins add up
I bought some needed toiletries. I used 3 for 2 and had a voucher so saved a fair bit...
It has dawned on me that whilst it is great I paid my insurance in one go, to do that I again I need to save towards it. Doh! Basically I need a sinking fund. I could use my 2 CT free months to add to this. So, a sinking fund, a buffer zone and an emergency fund. I think the sinking fund should be £1000. I think the buffer zone should stay in my current account. I think my sinking fund should be held in PBs to stop me dipping into it.
I knocked on my neighbours door to ask them to take in my veg box later on this week as I have appointments. They can. I discovered they will be in all the time as they have just had a newborn! I bought a card and some nice chocolate for the mum for a bit of energy!
The kitchen is STILL disorderlyI'm going in...I may be some time
I hope your day is going well

The Victorian wardrobe sounds lovely and won't be around for long. Can you put some of the guest money towards it as its an investment in your home or is it all allocated elsewhere? Make sure the shop is including free delivery before you say 'you've got yourself a deal'!https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6466032/an-in-between-phase

Dia I think the fact it fits the space is a good omen! And it's such a good idea to get shoes out of the way in the hall3
-
Yes, thanks @Tresinia511 and @PennysIntoPounds I have a small box at the front door. There isn't really a hall so the wardrobe is a solution to that. I will pop there tomorrow and buy it if it is still there. I will have to steal from the EF but I can put the money back next week. I don't really like doing so as it isn't an emergency is it? However, I've been looking for something like it since moving here. So...
Cooking for the guests and doing YS sausages, roasted cabbage, some pasta in hm tomato sauce! Will have to doIf you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

That's a good mse attitude to have but if you know you'll be replacing the money next week it is fine to move your own money around to match the timelines of realityhttps://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6466032/an-in-between-phase
