Another great haul on the veg box! I rarely see them in my Mr L, not that I go in there that often!"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee3

Thanks @jwil I do love the Mr L's veg box
Thanks @Redo good to know I'm not the only one
Thanks @Seasidegal58 living by the sea has not disappointed! I do like the mountains, forests and rivers too, but again, like you, Scotland has me covered for that!
Today I had a cycle by the sea to get to an appointment in the next area down. Easy enough going with the wind at my back but coming back!!! So hard....
I walked about a mile there and back for lunch with friends and discovered a few new shops, but I did not buy anything
My friends did not have alcohol so that was helpful as a) I'm not drinking much and b) it saved me a few pounds.
I've had a few meh days but I feel more myself now...
I could still be eating better...getting there...I think the key is prepping. I ate a whole bag of crisps yesterday, just waiting for some decent food to be ready.
I need to speak to a neighbour this weekend. I've been stalling on the alley work. I now realise why...not entirely laziness after all. I've realised I don't want be to be the new person who moves in and starts organising other people. I think I should do this jointly with a neighbour I've talked to. She has lived here a long time and is a 'local' It will be better coming from us both (even if I do all the work as she has a child with disabilities and works a lot too) It would also help me feel less exposed. So, I will speak to her this weekend.
There is a psychotherapist who says words to the effect of, when people say, they can't be bothered, or they are too lazy, what they mean, especially women, is: there are barriers or obstacles. Thinking through the obstacles and barriers is a better way of tackling a problem than berating ourselves...
Anyway, lesson over. Off to clean the kitchen. I'm back to cleaning up downstairs and putting the house to bed each evening. It makes it so much easier (and nicer) to start the following the day in an organised space.
A cup of tea first. Priorities...If you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

I tried an organic veg box from R1verf0rd for a while but was often disappointed by the contents so cancelled. Then I tried 0ddb0x and wasn’t impressed so cancelled after the first box.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)4

Yes @Sun_Addict I tried 0ddb0x too but I found it quite expensive considering it was not organic veg, plus the quality was variable. So far, not overly impressed with R either...
Thanks @jwil glad it spoke to you too!
Today I started the DL language app. I'm committing to it daily for 10 minutes. Will see how it goes. I enjoyed feeling my brain working.
I used a deli for a change...a slice of tortilla, a tub of olives, a tub of bean salad. It came to £17!!! The olives were stunning but I could make my own tortilla (it was £6.80 for a small slice) So, tortilla is back on my menu plan as I have a big bag of potatoes and onions due to my Mr L veg boxes. In future I will just buy olives from the deli
Unusually, I did not bother with a paper, as they all looked so depressing.
I took some items to a vintage shop. They did not sell, so I will pass them on to the charity shop.
Kept going with clearing the small room.
I made some good soup.
Nice catch up call with DM and DSi
Hope you are enjoying your saturday

Great thinking on why you were feeling reluctant, and to involve that neighbour.
Really interesting to think about it especially affecting women, that even in this day and age there are fewer 'roles' available for women to adopt so we berate ourselves for not being able to find one that fits for a situation and assume it's an intrinsic fault on our part4 -
Good luck with DL. What language are you doing? I enjoy it."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee2

Dia good soup is the key to happy living. My oh has an allotment and he makes lots of them using every root, leaf and veg he digs up ! Do you have a bread maker? This is such a great team mate for soups. You can find all the ancient grain flours now, Doves do a great range although they tend to be found more in the bigger supermarkets. Then add any seeds, fruits, so many recipes, we made gluten free to try (some are a bit eggy lol).
I have stopped buying newspapers. We had a local delivered for years but delivery ppl seem to have gone extinct and I always find the morning papers so dramatic. I just catch up news on my phone from a quick online review of them all and that's quite enough for me these days!

Thank you @jwil I am doing Spanish. I'm surprised at how much I enjoy it. I am a fan of Italian but my house guests will come from Central America so I plan to practice with them! What about you?
Thanks @Tresinia511 I agree! Making soup has always made me feel happy and grounded. Lucky you having access to all that fresh veg...I have the bread maker but haven't used it yet. I must get that going. I think hm bread and soup with a nice cheese and some fruit is a perfect lunch. I used to make my own buckwheat, flax and sunflower seed loaf so will be trying that firstI don't buy a daily paper, but I like a paper at the weekend. It isn't the same for me on a screen. I agree, too much news isn't great, especially in these times of constant world conflict and trauma.

I have been to meet a new (hopefully friend to be) in the park for a dog walk. I collected some more wild garlic. We walked and talked and then popped into her house on the way. I discovered a part of where I live that I hadn't known about. She has a huge house but 2 other women renting rooms. They all seem to get on fine. We went to the cafe for a cup of tea and shared a piece of cake. I have done loads of walking today.
I popped into Mr L on the way back to pick up some shopping.
I popped into an art gallery. Lots of good stuff. I had a chat with the gallery owner.
I had a salad when I got in.
This evening will be spent pottering, tidying, catching up on phone calls. I am also doing an online exercise session for 30 minutes.
Beautiful weather here.
I hope you had a good Sunday. If you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them
