stick your acc number where i've put "account number"This gives me a 404
The post has been edited, I put the account number in the wrong portion of the url. We shouldnt be needing to do this, there should be a simple link for single tariff switching.
Yeah I think my initial reply to you is now on its final edit, it seems roughly break even, but as you said the advantage is a later expiry date. My current fix expires some way through January, this new one would cover the entirety of the cold period in 2026.2 -

You can normally change tariffs on your online account.
Click 'Change my tariff': it's one of the first options under your account balance.
There, you can compare your energy costs on your current tariff to our other available tariffs.
If you see an option you like, you'll be able to switch to it yourself online.
What if I can't see the option to move tariff?
You'll be able to see this option if you're on a variable tariff (like Flexible Octopus), or if you're on another fixed tariff and within 45 days of the end of your contract.
I'm not sure that I believe them
Also that link will be a dual energy switch, so if you have electric and gas, it switches both, they need a single tariff switch option, and also make it visible all the time on a penalty free exit tariff.1 -
Let us know if this exists! Otherwise phone call / X to the rescue.
It is well known that one cannot rejoin Tracker if one terminates prematurely. From the blurb it sounds like this applies to the 14-M Fix also but with 45 days in place of 49. Or am I misreading it ???Telegraph Sam

and if your a while off from renewal date you will have to get in touch with customer support team0 -
Seems that "the (correct) link" itself doesn't enable me to switch single fuels but says to contact them by email, implying that I will get a sympathetic ear.

Why would they make more work for themselves rather than just let you click through the links even if you are on a fixed tariff? Mildly annoying, I'd say.1

Must have something to do with them wanting to have some "control" over users "churning" from one tariff to another. Add to this the mirror regs (49 vs 45 days) that apply to folk that want to switch from Tracker to the 14-M Fix and v.v. Hurdles and discouragement is the name of the game. And mild annoyance.Telegraph Sam

I keep telling them that the "switch a single fuel" link doesn't work if you're in a fix, and not in the last 49 days, but nothing has changed yet. And not sure it will, as it must be working as they planned for it to. Meh.So they'll be getting lots of emails requesting tariffs changes, if everyone is constantly changing throughout the year, as they release better rates. So email it is. Ah well.0

Ah well.I emailed on Thursday. After not hearing back over 24 hours later, I phoned them.I had about a 5 minute wait in the queue, but soon as I spoke to someone, it was changed instantly, as confirmed by me hitting refresh whilst still talking.I'd much rather change tariff online, as it's easier for me and allows their staff to help people who actually need help, but there was no option on the website for me to do so.1

Daughter switched to a new fix today. She couldn't do it via the website as there was no link but found one on the app, under "view tariff" and scrolling to the bottom of the page.Barnsley, South Yorkshire
