new octopus 14mth fix

It has the potential to be a bit mind boggling but really glad that there is choice and the option of changing - penalty free.0

I'm going to do this but would like to start on 1st April. Anyone that's done this, do you get to choose a start date when you go through the online process?0

stick your acc number where i've put "account number"Why isnt there a link to do this? How cheap is the new fix compared to the Jan 2025 version?
My existing gas fix is 5.99 kWh and 29.43 SC
New fix is 5.74p kWh and 31.15 SC
We are approaching end of March.
If I average 40-60 kWh per month for hot water, this will save a estimated 12p for the kWh rate.
The increased SC will cost an extra around 51p for a 30 day month.
So its a loss for the spring/summer/autumn.Over a year it is approx an extra £6 SC, and I am surprised how low the saving is even for a peak winter month, I used slightly over 1000 kWh in January, which cost me £61 on my current fix (as reported by app, the actual cost was different as some of it was on tracker), in the busiest month this kWh change would only save me about £3. It is pretty much break even, the advantage is basically an extended life for the fix. On my old boiler with its 3kWh per day pilot light it would have been a saving.1 -

stick your acc number where i've put "account number"This gives me a 404N. Hampshire, he/him. Octopus Intelligent Go elec & Tracker gas / Vodafone BB / iD mobile. Ripple Kirk Hill member.
2.72kWp PV facing SSW installed Jan 2012. 11 x 247w panels, 3.6kw inverter. 33MWh generated, long-term average 2.6 Os.Not exactly back from my break, but dipping in and out of the forum.Ofgem cap table, Ofgem cap explainer. The system seemed to work for me after 404-ing once I had inserted my a/c no as instructed. But I am sure that on the web site there is a button for tariff switches, you just have to find it.
For me the latest 14-M fix would save me £29 p.a. overall compared with Jan 2025 electric. For gas the overall savings would be £16 p.a. but that is against Jan 23 v 1.Telegraph Sam

The post has been edited, I put the account number in the wrong portion of the url. We shouldnt be needing to do this, there should be a simple link for single tariff switching.2 -

This is what the web site has to say over changing tariffs
You can normally change tariffs on your online account.
Click 'Change my tariff': it's one of the first options under your account balance.
There, you can compare your energy costs on your current tariff to our other available tariffs.
If you see an option you like, you'll be able to switch to it yourself online.
What if I can't see the option to move tariff?
You'll be able to see this option if you're on a variable tariff (like Flexible Octopus), or if you're on another fixed tariff and within 45 days of the end of your contract.
I'm not sure that I believe them
