"I have a variation on that: I have always used the variable D/D method of payment in order to avoid discrepancies in matching payments to invoices. But looking back to when I switched to the 14-month fixed rate tariff, it has seemed that Octopus has failed in this "simple"  task. And odds and ends of payments are left hanging around.  Which take time to irradicate."

Yep did the same to me, variable DD changed to fixed DD but changed it back after phone call.

I have put this point to Octopus and await their reply. Am I right that the (latest / current) terms of payment are not visible on the website?

If you can't see it (I can - your energy box on home page) click on the payment tab or possibly via account tab on the app.

Has/is anyone changing their gas to the 12M fixed May 25 v1?
It's 0.28p/KWh cheaper for me (E Midlands) than the Loyal 14M Fixed March 25 V4
Electricity is 1.13p/KWh more expensive so there is no point in moving that.

I was prompted to a similar train of thought when my latest Loyal 14 M Fixed March 2025 v 4 invoice arrived yesterday with a note attached "You could save £21.50 a year by switching to Octopus 12 M Fixed". The only 12 M Fixed open to me is May 2025 v 1 as with you where the saving in SC is 1.5 p / day .[Unit rate difference is 0.02 p]. I've asked Octopus to justify where the £21.50 came from. Otherwise I can't say that I'm raring to switch. Gas generally being less of an issue in summer than in winter.

I swapped our Dec 24 fix back to Tracker for gas, with the idea we might fix again later in the year as we come into Autumn if the rates are favourable. I was conscious that the fix runs out on 1.1.26 which could be a very uncertain time to make another decision.

My gas fix was due to run out on Xmas day so Ive just switched to latest fix even though it's fractionally more expensive, just as an insurance policy.

If a cheaper fix comes along I will still be watching of course.

My electric fix is still something like 10% less than the current offer so sticking.

I've come to the conclusion there is little on the market for no exit fees fixed tariffs that can better the Octopus 14-Month loyalty tariff on unit costs alone. And that if there is a more competitive tariff this will be on the basis of SC's.
It is interesting to see on E.On and EDF and Fuse & Co's websites how difficult they make it to see the underlying unit rates rather than the estimated annual charge which of course is meaningless
