…last nights charge was only 5 hours …. I seen the IHD change to the off peak ( the lights across the bottom change) came on at 12.10 am off at 5.10 … I might be now on economy 10 ... If I don’t get any off peak today , tonight is going to be a cold one as heaters have only had 5 hours charge

I haven't looked back through all your various threads about your heating, but I have a feeling that the 33 kWh they gobbled up by 05:10 was as much as they can take, 5 x 6.6 kW. So it's more likely that it was thermostats that stopped the charging, not the meter. Next time (!), when the red light goes out or turns back to green, go through the IHD's menu to find the Credit tariff per kWh (it's probably OK > OKright arrow > right arrow). That should show the current tariff price, so the lower one if the meter's still registering offpeak usage.

The meter went back to normal electric at 5.10am this morning , yesterday it was 7.10am

the heaters took in approx 40 kWh yesterday so they definitely can take more charge …they are 3.4 kw dimplex heaters , two of them

OK, thanks. When you say 'back to normal electric', do you mean that the tariff price changed from 'low' to 'normal' (what nowadays are usually referred to as offpeak and peak)? If so, then yes, it certainly looks as if you were watching the overnight E10 offpeak period from 12:10 to 05:10. If that is indeed the case, then you should also see charging start at 1:10 and 8:10 this afternoon and evening. Quite exciting!

The 33 kWh stored by the heaters (no hot water?) should allow them ideally to pump out 1.5 kW each for 11 hours from the time they're supposed to start warming up the house. That may be optimistic, but if it happens, the afternoon boost should see you through to (normal) bedtime and the late offpeak period may be unnecessary. Many customers on E10 use a bit of that late cheaper-rate slot to run, say, a little fan heater for extra comfort in front of the television instead of charging up the storage heaters again.

I used to get 5 hours 12 till 5 am and afternoon 2 hour from 1pm till 3 pm

so if don’t get this new times this afternoon , my home will be cold by early evening ..the afternoon boost used to see me though until bedtime

I’m hoping I’m on the new timings of economy 10 … I’ll check the meter and the IHD around 1pm today to check

    fingers crossed 🤞

I'm hopeful that you've now got E10. We'll find out in a cuple of hours :)
Yesterday, on E7, did your home stay acceptably warm into the evening? Or did you run out of stored heat?

It was ok actually … I don’t like the cold , but it was very comfortable …. Hubby never noticed the difference to be honest

not sure how it would be on a very cold winters night , but I was definitely warm enough

Yesterday would not have been a very good test for E7 as it was unseasonably mild, not to mention the wall to wall sunshine generating solar gain. My living room heater was on very low and it even stayed warm well into the evening.

Agreed, not a great test but a baby step towards it!
