plus usual things running in background , fridge tv etc … minimum stuffNow that you have E10 - you need to try to maximise when convenient to do so - off peak use - so maybe try to use that 1-4pm (possibly soon 2-5pm as clocks change) and 8-10pm slot (soon 9-11) for heavy use loads like these. The E10 standing charge - will be the same as E7 - the last time I checked EDF loaded the peak cf E7 more than the night - but that was probably 18 months ago (so just did so again). I wonder if you were on some special for your old 2+7 before - given the comment re SC over 70p.You pay a price premium for the extra daytime / evening hours - so take full advantage.I even try to shower etc in my off peak slots (my shower is sadly electric not from tank ) unless have to be out for a given time / appointment these days.Re your SCSo for instance in another thread - or you appear to have deleted the rates quote above that I responded to - you said were over just over 70p SCSO guess maybe NEE10 SC 71.716p Peak 34.317p OffPeak 13.358/kWhE7 SC 71.716p Peak 29.258p OffPeak 13.358/kWhSame 5p more SameIf a different region see standard E10 rates here (until Mar31st anyway)And standard E7 hereThe tables might be available for April via other links. You might have been on some legacy special tariff or even an old fix on your E7 deal if you saw a big step in your SC - or just looking at a figure off of last years bills - the NE SC jumped about 15-20p in one go recently. The good news is if in NE - the SC coming down come Apr 1st - but kWh rates will rise1 -

thank you for all this … very helpful
I’m taking all the advice and adjusting my heaters daily … I never did that before , they were always on full
but the extra 3 hours off peak has made a huge difference to the warmth of our home … it’s actually too hot for me at the min , and I turned the bedroom heater down after night one on E 10
Living room is a huge open plan with dining room ..I think it’s too hot for me in there this morning, hubby is away in London this weekend , so I will see how he is tomorrow when he’s back ..he might find it too hot as well
again , thank you to everyone for your help , I really do appreciate it

again , thank you to everyone for your help , I really do appreciate itYes - e10 can make a big difference to output for given heater sizes. With your heaters on max - if were able to consistently max out the full 10 hours vs 7 hours - 10/7 = 1.43 = thats potentially a 40% increase in available heating energy.Theres an old rough rule of thumb that folk used to quote that 1 deg C on thermostat was worth about 10% on heating costs (energy use).If the temps dip again towards the end of the month - as some forecasting for parts of UK - that will be a good test of the new e10 heating capability. Whilst the old E7 levels 5+2 probably better than vanilla single block e7 - still fresh in the mind.Just remember to turn the heaters back up as temps dip to maintain the room comfort levels.I maybe average a tweek every 2-3 days - depends on how fast the temps are changing outside.I'll be looking a day ahead as usual to think about turning mine on.(And expecting a 5kWh plus heating spike - just to heat the core - which I'll get back later as turn them back down and then off again as temps return)

Concerned I’m using nearly £10 in peak electric … (yesterday for example )
yesterday , no washer / dryer on … air fryer for 12 mins , no other high usage appliances were on
so , one tv and tv box on standby , they don’t have off switch … one tv and tv box in use … kettle used a few times ,only amount I needed .lights used to a minimum, and according to EDF ( which says it’s correct ) I’ve used that £ yesterday ….
my heaters using 10 hours on E10 only used a few £’s ..currently at 10p per kWh (saying used only £2.01on money )
Does this seem right ??. Or are some on my hours off peak changed at peak do you think ??
the graph shows what I mean , that’s my cost since Wednesday…

the graph is off my account page on website , and it’s says it …
*** This graph shows you the breakdown of your energy costs at different times of the day (using your latest energy prices).****It gives you a good indication of your costs, but please see your bill for accurate costs.
So what’s right … the IHD is giving me a different price reading , even thou it has my tarfff price on it
I’m just trying to get approx how much I’m using per day , I don’t want to get a shock at the end of th4 month … I pay £210 a month direct debit , I’m worried it might not cover it
Sorry ….i know I’m hopeless and I worry a lot
