Is the £125000 the total value of the house or your 50%? If it is the total value, it is only a  £62500 asset for you.
My flat is allegedly worth 250k.

  • Ok, but why don’t you pay rent on the half of the flat you do not own?

I think there is a peppercorn rent written into the lease which they don't bother to collect. Some shared ownership you just don't pay rent on the second half, I heard of someone else on here in the same position.

Good day yesterday. Work was mad busy but was glad at five o'clock. I spent about £1.60 in Asda on some sparkling water. Dinner of sushi rice, baked salmon and a bit of soy sauce and rice wine vinegar. Was actually delicious.

Went into town this morning. I need to vacuum, now. Just watching some MAFs Australia. My sister loves it (Married at First Sight Australia, it's a reality TV show).

OkCupid man seems OK. He lives a way away which I like. He does music and also works in a shop.

I don't want to move in with someone. I'm too old for that. I want to keep my life and they keep theirs. It's early days though ay.

    hello @itsthelittlethings
your savings target could be a reality not a dream with some budgeting....

I find doing a weekly shop for groceries and meal planning saves money.

Set up a regular standing order for savings? then it's like a regular bill or payment.

I like a coffee but I don't buy too many because the cost quickly adds up!  Now and again it's nice to do.  Maybe have a look at the supermarket latte, cappuncino, other coffees range. Aldi sell 8 sachets for £1.09.  I make mine at home and drink from a reusable coffee cup whilst I'm out for a walk and it's just like a takeaway one!

As an example if you saved £200 a month at an interest rate of between 5.5% and 7% depending on which account you choose, some accounts you need to open a linked bank account, your savings would grow to £80k even on the lower interest rate.  An ISA is a good idea if you are likely to exceed the PSA.

  • I am still confused with the idea that you only own half a flat but have to pay nothing towards the half you do not own. Why would anyone or any organisation own an asset worth £125000 to them and not expect anything from it. Something does not add up.
