£0.00 yesterday - home made pasta and sauce (got up at 6.30am to make it!), and then mango and king prawn salad from fridge stocks for tea (I worked a 12 hour shift)

£0.00 today - same lunch, feta and pink grapefruit salad from fridge stocks (another 12 hour shift!)
  • Hello!

I'm new to MSE but I've found you guys and this seems like something I can achieve...

So! Yesterday I took home-made soup to work in a flask which was a grand total of £0 and today I'm sat at my desk eating a yummy salad I brought in so again £0. There are some great lunch ideas on thus thread too so thank you!

As a newbie can I therefore be added to the list taking part in the lunch log challenge?

Thanks and please guys, don't give in - I'm mew and need the support of you experienced people

    Hi Guys,

Can I join in for the last 6 months? I work 4 days a week and lunches are one of my downfalls, especially as the only sandwich shop near my office is SO expensive

Can I just check I only count things I might buy in a shop like crisps/drinks?

    Thanks

    I work 7 days, at 2 jobs.
For both I normally take sandwiches, but I been naughty this week.

Monday was ham on w/meal bread, cherry toms, crisps, apple, banana, yogurt and drink. All from home.

Tues (today) was cheese on w/meal, crisps, apple, ceral bar, and drink. Did take banana, but this is where I was baaaad, had to go into town & got cold and wet (has anyone told June what is supposed to be like?!) And passed a bakery, where the thought of a warm pasty, & soggy banana, dragged me in & the money out of my purse before I could think NO!

So tomorrows ham on w/meal, cherry toms, no crisps - DS ate them, apple, ceral bar, drink and todays banana.

    See the pattern???
Hopefully this will keep me on the straight & narrow - attempting a LSpend/ Spending Diary for June.

  • Hi All :hello:

I dont quite know where I was when this thread was started (this username or my previous one!) but I feel it is a sign from above that I really need to get myself together!

Should there be room for a little one (with an unhealthy appetite for M&S food hall) I would really LOVE and desperately NEED to join in the challenge?! :D

I'm dreadful with my lunches, I start out with great intentions and manage about 2 days before I get too lazy!
My OH does a lot better than me, he does make a pack-up to take into work (he does shifts) and 9 times out of 10 he eats it...:rotfl:
So why I cant manage it is beyond me?

So starting tomorrow, wednesday 3rd June, I'm a crazy woman on a mission! Make your lunches, take them to work and eat them!

M&S Food Hall is not my friend, it is not a safe haven, and it is not helping my debt figures!
Maybe that should be my affirmation each time I make my lunch...

Am off right now to cook off some packet rice to cool, put in tupperware and take into work tomorrow....

*runs off talking to herself like a crazy person... "m&s food hall is not my friend mutter mutter*

  • Evening all!

Lunch today was a home-made salad... so £0

However I now have a snack attack drawer too which may in fact be the key to success! It now has....

    - A container full of cereal for morning munchies
    - Rice cakes, peanut butter, dried fruit for afternoon snack attacks.

I intend to stock this up as time goes buy to avoid impulse buys of chocolate bars and croissants

    Hi naomi and everyone else!

There are no hard n fast rules, some people are mega strict and buy lunch stuff as a seperate budget to household shopping, and keep a seperate tally. Others, like me, just count any naughty local shop spends on lunches/snacks etc. i.e. if it came from home then it's outta the shopping budget and doesn't count as a lunch spend (even if it was bought specifically for lunches).

I aim for 4/5 a week. keeping it real!!

Today i have a ham, cheese and pickle sandwich, which i will toastie in the breville. yog, snacks all from home. NSL(no spend lunch) again! 3/3 this week so far. Trying to be good as going to Glasgow meet on saturday and have to make cutbacks accordingly!

laughing my head off at NYCB, "m&s food hall is not my friend" :rotfl: :rotfl:

and yes, london welshcake, i like the idea of a snack drawer!
