Oh god, I just can't stop the spending!!!! It's not cos I want to spend money on lunch, it's cos I just can't get my backside in gear in the morning to sort stuff out. I need to get stuff together to take into work with me to make so I don't have too much faffing around in the morning.

I can't really promise much for tomorrow as I've nothing in, oh and Friday's chip day , maybe I'll forego it

I make a vow here and now that if not Friday, then Monday I shall be good, promise :)

Fletch, I got such a cheek, but reading your post I thought 'why not go buy that Irn Bru in bulk'!!! I've bought dinners in the canteen everyday this week, and they've not even been nice.

Problem I have is the thought of deciding what I'm gonna have the night before, making it when I get up and still fancying it by lunch time!

Your lunches sound yummy this week btw :D

Oh god, me again..... 3 posts in a row, can you tell I'm feeling guilty!

I will stop at the shop on the way to work tomorrow and buy something to make for lunch rather than have extortionate ready made food. If I run out of time in the morning, I know I have some soup in the drawer at work so i'll take a roll in with me.

    Ok!!

  • Hi

Can I join in please? I dont work but am saving the pennies at home. Already mealplan my main meals but could do with sorting lunches too. I never know what to eat at lunch ATM, but we do have in soup, bread, leftovers etc.

I will start from tomorrow and try and remember to post what we have. It will also help me get through the store cupboard IYSWIM. Might even do some bulk cooking:confused:

When I was working I could easily spend £5-£6 a day on Baked Spuds, Baguettes, sarnies etc etc:eek:

Hi, am sure someone will sort you out with a number soon.

That's a huge saving you're making! Have you worked out what you'll have saved if you carry on for a year?

    Hi SuperP

Hadn't worked it out in those terms, but here goes

    : from £12 a day to £12 a week = £48 per week
    : 40 weeks in school term @ £48 = £1920 per year

minus the odd sinful week or lunch out = £1800 = paid for our two week holiday in France (which I know we should have done more cheaply - but I am a sucker for a big pool in a sunny but quiet spot):rotfl:

    Hi Fletch

My wife spotted (heard on the radio I think) the story of India Knight (a celeb of some sort) and her friend / colleague, Neris Thomas - who both had their own lightbulb moments and set off to lose weight. 1 year later they were both 5st lighter. They have a book - Neris and India's Idiot proof diet.

I like the diet (and I have tried a few), because it concentrates on the user (ie you) rather than all the food and biology. It has simple rules, which are mainly low carb, lots of water, and great flexibility in menu. Atkins/South Beach like, but more veg and less pretension

It also has a support site pigtotwig.com I think (although I haven't used it), but covers ideas for how to deal with people trying to derail you or how to handle special occasions, you know the day to day stuff we all have to deal with (kinda like DFW attitudes) and tells you to be strong know yourself and don't f*** yourself up. It also has lots of things like what vitamins to take to supplement the things you are missing (and keep you regular).

The great thing is my OH and I both just seem to have switched off wanting snacking and chocolately things - its not denying them - its just not wanting them. Also it says no low fat stuff - to keep you free of chemicals - if you want mayo get the full fat stuff and use less or less often. To keep things interesting on the palette it suggests lots of dressings and cream, ... yum yum, and as I said me, my OH and DD (13 - veggie) have lost 3lb per week regularly for 5 weeks.

We mainly have bacon and egg (omelette) or a protein shake (like slimfast) for breakfast. We make a box of salad, lettuce cucumber tomato with tuna mayo, egg mayo or leftover meat + avacado. Supper is fish or steak with cauli, broccoli, mushroom (no spuds, no rice, no carrots, no bread) - mainly ordered from Tesco.com with whatever is cheapest.

At breakfast time, I feel like a short order chef doing veggie sausages, 4x omelettes or bacon and egg.!!

As Tony the Tiger says (now a stranger in my house) its grreeattt

WoW!!! Well worth it then :T
  • I've done alright this week, only spend on diet coke, crisps and snacks and have brought in something for lunch every day (including today). The thing is, I've now been diagnosed an anaemic and put on iron tablets, so need to reevaluate what and how I'm eating.

I've started well, had rice krispies and toast for breakfast instead of the usual cereal bar after getting to work! Had some guinness last night as well - ugh!

I can feel I'm going to need to plan a lot better what to eat and when, but I'm please I know how I can make myself better (been feeling rubbish recently, due to this anaemia it now turns out)
