  • ............ and am back on track. Thanks for the boost, I appreciate it.

Right, am DEFINITELY having sandwiches tomorrow (as is DS who got money for lunch today too :o ). I'm usually so focussed and determined each morning but this cold (and them hor-moans) has knocked me for six. But, left with cloth ears, bunged nose and super-dry-nostril-to-throat ratio, am back on track (please God).

Imaging doubling my spend in just three days. SHOCKING!

OMG I just realised....it's chip day at school tomorrow and I know for a fact that it's week 3 which is sausage, chips, beans & belgian bun & custard, pretty much my fav (unless it was choc pud & choc sauce of course :D)

Not had a good week here, started off well but the combination of payday and lack of time have made me naughty for the last few days :o

Mon 21st - £0.10 (lunch - baked potato, cheese and salad)
    Tue 22nd - £0.58 (lunch - leftover spaghetti bolognese)
Wed 23rd - £2.64 (tut.. bought flapjack for breakfast and sandwich for lunch)
Thu 24th - £2.60 (pack of cereal bars for breakfasts and a pasta salad for lunch)
Fri 25th - £2.25 (bought casserole from canteen)
    Total for week - £8.17
    Total so far - £11.13

Time for a big shop this weekend, so hopefully back on track next week!

  • I'm going to join in this challenge starting on Monday.

I'm already saving money now that the deli across the road has shut down!! Normally I'd be spending around £4.00 a day but at the moment it's an 85p tin of soup from the shop!

Going to start making home made soup at the weekends and freezing it in portions :D

OMG Jo, I could NOT live in your world! If I could buy ready cooked meals on the premises, I would cave 99.9% of the time!

After my poor start, I have not spent a penny at lunchtime this week. I even went into the supermarket at lunchtime today to buy special offer cat food (no, I haven't resorted to eating Felix, I do have cats...) and although I was quite peckish and queuing next to the sandwiches, I didn't buy one (I so nearly did :o ). My company gives us snacks on Fridays so I fill up on those then wait until I get home for dinner, so didn't have to take anything with me today.

It is making me think twice, knowing I'll have to add to the figures in my sig if I slip up. So thanks again for the thread. :T

  • Right then (clears throat for listing), here are the votes for the weekly lunch log.............

    Monday - £0 left-over-last-night - cannelloni (sp)
Tuesday - £0 Sandwiches cheese and piccallilli (sp)
Wednesday - £3 - baked potato and chilli
Thursday - £1.50 egg mayo and baguette M&S
Friday £0 - Turkey baguette from home

    Hoorah, am back on track

Tonight was haggis (who knew how fab it was), neeps and tatties. DS did a rendition of Tae a Moose (well 5 verses at least). That Rabbie Burns was a bit of a goer :D

Oops - spent a total of £7.90 this week on lunches etc, which is more than I would like.

Must try harder next week :o

Oh dear Lord, how wrong things went this week :(

It's funny how quickly getting out of the making lunches habit can get, I am obviously very weak willed. I will look through the links that were kindly given in a post the other day and get some ideas. I'm stick and tired of bread, I never ate bread hardly at all before and now I'm eating it every day and I feel bloated and bored of lunch, need to get some new ideas....

I shall turn over a new leaf (again ) on Monday and will only have school dinners on Friday (chip day :D), fingers crossed

Thanks for this thread Cassie, I've still saved £12.35 over the last 2 weeks which does mount up to a huge £321 over a year!!

EDIT: I've just realised I've done my sums wrong for my sig, I've been doing the challenge for 3 weeks now so spent £14.82 but saved £22.23 which over a year is £385.32  I feel a bit better about the last week now knowing that I had a successful 2 weeks before that. Must try harder :D
