I start work tomorrow and have been good today and made a vegetable and lentil soup - probably enough to last me all week!!
I have taken the flask out of the cupboard, so just need to warm it through in the morning to take with me!!
I will also be taking my own coffee with me, so I don't need to buy any from the canteen.
Hope everyone has a good week!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -

I'm in on this too. We all chip in for lunch but I'm dieting and would be taking my own anyway so should be able to get spending down to zero for lunches. Taking a can of tuna salad tomorrow.Lightbulb moment 28th December 2007

hi all
at the moment the glitch on the tesco tills should help with teh mission of taking lunch!!
cooked meats, sandwich fillers are on special offers of 2 for £x - e.g. the meats are 2 for £3 but instead of taking off the pence to bring the total down to £3 as it should the tills are taking off £3!!!
i checked by buying just two packs yesterday at my local tesco and it worked - i then went and bought 10 more packs of meat (end dated end of January ) for the grand some of £1.84!!! less than the price of a sandwich if I go out at lunch - this means that for me and oh i think we can have all our lunches for at least next two weeks for about £3.5 including the bread
this is posted on the grabbit board but i am not sure how to do the links
hope it helps
take care0 -
if I'm going to make soup in bulk, I think I might have to buy some containers to freeze it!
Just buy ziplock freezer bags (i get mine cheap from semichem) and they take up much less room in the freezer, plus they defrost quicker when you grab one in the morning on the way to work. i wash mine and take them home again but that might be a bit excessive!!
I'd like to join the challenge please! Is it okay to count cans of juice from grocery budget if brought from home? I could easily spend a fiver a day so i need help with this! it's the miscellaneous spends that get me!
I worked last week so my totals thus far are....
Thurs - soup from local bakers £1.20 (wasn't even very nice!)
Fri - Cupasoup and bread from home (passable but would've been better with a sandwich!
Spend last week £1.20 (2 days)
Onwards and upwards for the challenge!I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....(it's part of my charm!)0 -
I spoke to my kids about this challenge and told them that iwas planning on us all taking lunch instead of buying it. They have agreed so I got them to choose the sandwich fillings they wanted and told them that they had chosen what they wanted so no complaining. We'll see how it goes

count me in
i'm back to work tomorrow and spend at lunch time now and again.
I cut back the day it cost me £4.50 for a panini, pkt of crisps and a 500ml of Irn Bru.
My cousin gives her 2 sons £2 every day for lunch that is £20 a week, £80 a month. It's shocking
I will log everything in my spenig diary and post on here at night time cos i don't have access to the forums at work :mad:Official DFW nerd no 551 - proud to be dealing with my debts
