All Scooby Snacks from stores, the last of the banoffee pie appears to have fed 2 people for breakfast. Supper was decidedly beige on a tray, with a huge colourful home-made coleslaw and a big green salad. It was quick and easy.Nothing has been spent, all the bills went out, and when the PB results come in, I will know where I am for the month.Applied for three jobs yesterday. So much for my lazy evening on the sofa watching football, not often the email round-up of jobs makes me go 'ooooh, I could do that!' but it did yesterday. Will see if anything comes of it.Grateful for: pate in a tube, nice coffee, not having to buy anything.Irritations: it being light at 6 something a.m, me being awake saying rude things to birds at 6.40, feeling bad about swearing at birds who were just happy they did not freeze to death in the night (repeat til fade).4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Today
I made it upstairs to have a shower (not done for the past 2 days). Unfortunately half way through brushing my teeth I found that Mr Builder had turned the water off, so no hair wash and came back down to use baby wipes.
I have not spent any money,
I have done one load of washing and took several small bags of recycling out.
I now have a working sink and toilet
I sat outside and decanted the soil from 3 x 50 l tubs into 6 medium and 8 small tubs (not full to the brim as I have things to plant and it's easier to have them half filled, put the plant in and then top up with soil from a small tub)
Grateful for easy food (just had toast for tea as I could barely stand up when I came back inside), lovely sink and toilet and being able to do proper work outside.9 -

Quiet on here today. Hope everyone is ok.I didn't get much sleep after doing lots of heavy cleaning and moving stuff around yesterday so took it fairly easy. It has been a pleasant, sunny day after a hard frost again. Shopping first thing, load of washing, then stripped off the beds to make up another load. All dry enough on the line to go straight into the airing cupboard. Not missing seeing it all draped over the airer!Made some meat pies, froze one. Cooked the reduced chicken we bought in W*itr*se. Had chicken and chips for dinner. Now there is leftover cooked chicken, a meat pie, plus some leftover chilli (enough for a meal for both of us) and HM tomato sauce, so I will only need to cook accompaniments for the rest of the week. Might have to think about freezing some more, but would prefer not to - I emptied and turned off the small freezer the other day, and the large one is pretty full. I don't really want to have to run the small one again till we have garden surpluses to preserve. I will have to think about it tomorrow when I am hopefully less tired! All safe in the fridge for now.I sorted out the big cupboard in the conservatory and threw loads of junk away, and moved some items to the garageAlso turned out the airing cupboard to make room for the two loads of washing I did this morning. I put some blankets away in the bedroom trunks and sorted out a couple for the dog's travelling crate. Finally, I rescued some hyacinth and other bulbs from where they were not supposed to be and put them in a tub so I can enjoy their flowers. After flowering I will find a space for them in a border somewhere.I am quite pleased with what I have done today8

I found a bargain rail in a charity shop by the gym, and got a coat, shirt, l/s top and polo shirt for £1 total 😎. And garden bulbs from the £ shop. I'm really enjoying the frosty mornings and the sunshine we have at the moment.Today I am grateful for a couple of hours of extra work, for Pip benefitting from a day at home, for library books, for charity shop bargains.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!9

Hello everyone, just checking in for the beginning of March. As others have said, I am really enjoying the sunny and bright days and the frosty mornings, I find it a particularly energizing combination. Brighter mornings really help with my energy levels, and I found that in the past week not only my mood was better, but also I felt much less groggy in the morning. Yesterday I woke up earlier than the 6:20 alarm to get ready to go to the office, and I was ready early and didn't have to run to the train station. Considering that, just 2 weeks ago, I switched off the alarm and slept a further 30 minutes, and was super groggy until about lunch time, you can understand this is a massive difference for me. I always find this in early spring, and I like that. I'm not the biggest fan of Spring, as it usually means (for me) aggressive buzzing insects (I have a wasp phobia since a childhood trauma) and hayfever, and not knowing if I need a coat or not. However I always enjoy the first few longer days, the bright mornings, the happy singing birds (sorry, @f0xh0les
) and the better mood and energy levels.
This said, work has been busy, but luckily today is a bit more quiet. Thank you for the positive vibes last week, I did get my compensation statement this week, and, despite not being great, it's enough to pay for the water bill and fully for the new blinds. I will have just a tiny amount left over, which I'm now debating if it should go to the emergency fund or as an overpayment to one of the CC. It is not enough to be split in 2, sadly, but I have a few weeks to decide until the end of the month. If you want to share what you would do, please do. My current emergency fund is about 1/3 of my monthly salary, so extremely underfunded, which is why I am even asking myself the question.
For the month of March I am aiming to do 20 NSD's, which is a first since I started the challenge. My plan for the month is to do things I like while keeping spending to a minimum, so I will continue going to my clubs (book club, crochet and knitting club, line dancing) and I want to start a retro movie club at my house, maybe monthly, as I am a big fan of Cary Grant, Frank Sinatra, Hitchock, etc etc, and I found out some of my new friends from the clubs also do appreciate that.
This weekend I am going to Dublin to visit my friend (she had a baby in December whom I haven't met yet, and she almost begged me to go as she feels very lonely). we are going to stay at her mum's house the first night (she's the most fabulous hostess, so I'm very happy) and then on the Saturday we go to her own house, and I'll fly back on Monday, which I have taken off work, so I can make a long weekend out of it. I expect this will be spending zero or almost. Next week I will have to go to the office twice, so I will have to be careful in what I buy to eat, and try to bring lunch from home (I did that yesterday, so I'll try and keep the good streak). Next weekend, my friend is visiting from Sweden and she will be staying at my flat, so it will be a slightly spendier time, as I will be the one providing for her. We have also planned to go and visit an ex-colleague down the coast in Kent on the Sunday, so that will definitely be a bit spendy.
The weekend after that I will be going to the craft fair in London with my wool-friend. I have set aside a small amount for that, which I will definitely have to stick to. I am not planning to buy anything anyway, but I skipped already Unravel in February, which is one of my favourites, so I really want to go to this one in London, as it is a lovely day out, and a good excuse to catch up with my friend.
Today is NSD #2, and I am grateful for another sunny day, having found a knitting pattern for a hat which I thought I lost, having a job that provides for my needs.Debt free journey started 30/08/2023:
