Now that mum doesn't have a bank account as I closed it and moved funds  to a savings account with my online banking, does anyone know if any refunds are due from tax etc how they would be paid in to that account considering she's not the account holder. For instance if they send a cheque in her name it's not going to be able to be deposited is it?
I've recently received a tax refund on behalf of my late father, who died last March. It came in the form of a cheque, made payable to me, presumably as I was the person named on the original Tell Us Once form as the contact.

If her estate is due a refund of income tax it will be paid to you as her executor not to her bank account.
    Thank you.

As executor you'll be responsible for ensuring that the tax affairs of the deceased are finalised with the HMRC. Likewise that the Estate files a tax return if so required.

Bank statements are the normally the best way of dealing with notifications to start with.
    Thank you..

sorry for your loss - it's a difficult time to think rationally and you are doing well so far.

Here is a guide that may help with the different things to consider and who to contact.
