Hey! I am new here and wanted to say you are an inspiration. My advice, forget the past, don't look to desperately to the future for a week or so, live in the here and now, that is where you are. The past has gone and the future will come and today will determine what that future looks like. You've already done this for over 6 months, a week or so is not going to floor you. You are stronger than this storm, I can tell. Straighten your crown and put up your brolly! Love you diary by the way3

I’ve been there many times in the past with the more than anticipated expense 😞Over time you’ll build up that emergency fund and this type of situation won’t be as stressful.Well done on haggling with the AA.I love the advice from @Sponge_pudding “straighten your crown and put up your brolly” 💪I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)1

The Two Torturous Events (which I have taken to referring to them as, to friends) are now over. To be honest, they weren't torturous but the amount of time, effort, stress, and worry made them so. Plus a little resentment as they were for other people and not things I would have chosen to do for myself. On the plus side the sickeningly expensive shoes were very comfortable, so I feel cheap dress cheap hat expensive shoes was the right combination. I will definitely wear them again in the future.
I have today off work to recover, I started making a to-do list but then decided my priority would actually be to read for at least an hour on the hammock.
I also have to do some chicken prep as I am collecting two new rescues tomorrow.
On Sunday I have been given a free place to take my dog mantrailing (my friend was booked on but needed to cancel). It's near her house so she's offered me home cooked Sunday lunch afterwards too!
So even more important that I prioritise rest and recovery as much as possible today. I will of course potter about and do some chores too, but rest is the main priority. Got to get my strength up so I can continue on with the battle and do what I can to limit the fall out of this past week or so.Debts 04/01/25 02/06/25

Glad they're over and shoes were comfy. I completely miscounted the days left in the month in my previous post but I still stand by 'you've got this'!1

@PennysIntoPounds I used to get paid on the 24th of each month your counting was historically right 😂 Unfortunately now it's the last day of the month.
I've had a lovely day reading in the sun. Saw a red kite and a buzzard.I did a little bit of weeding when I fancied moving.
I cancelled a direct debit for a credit card, which will give me a bit of breathing space (£140 so will make a massive difference to me getting through this month). It's not actually due til 7th but for some reason was set up for around 19th. It didn't go out yesterday so I took that as a sign. I'm setting it back up for the 1st.
Tea will be a lovely mushroom risotto with whatever looks good from the garden added in.Debts 04/01/25 02/06/25

I picked up my two new rescue chickens today so I'm totally distracted from the money worries.
They're in quarantine in my downstairs bathroom and I've put a spare camera in there to check they're eating and drinking without disturbing them.
So that's my weekend free entertainment!Debts 04/01/25 02/06/25

I've had a nightmare trying to get on here lately, it keeps wanting me to prove I'm not a robot, for every page I click on.
The two new chickens are settling in. One is pecking the neck feathers out of the other so I've temporarily named them Myra Hendley and Clare Balding. Hopefully it's just the stress of the move and it'll stop soon. Then I can give them nicer names. I've had 4 eggs off them already. Today they went into the garden (in an extra large dog crate) to meet the other pets. They seem much easier to handle than my other chickens and ducks.
My Experian credit score has gone up (I know they don't really mean anything but I have to take all the wins I can get). It should mean more options for my balance transfer in September.
I got 15 bunches of spring onions from Olio so I'm hoping to find some interesting ways of using them this week. Send all your spring onion recipes this way. They're in a jug of shallow water though so should last a while.
If nothing else expensive happens I should last ok til payday. I do need a full tank of fuel for work trips this week but I've got £100 that's just cleared on the food and fuel credit card.
I have a bumper harvest of blackcurrants so have made a few individual blackcurrant and apple crumbles. I think I might freeze the rest.
Not much else is growing in my garden, except lettuce leaves for the tortoise and chives.Debts 04/01/25 02/06/25

I’m getting that prove you’re human pop up too.How lovely to have rescue hens. It must be fantastic to see them coming on once they’ve settled in.I use spring onions just like normal ones. I use them in coleslaw, stir fries and garnish on top of curry as well as in salads.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)2
