That sounds like a lovely day!
Decent strategy on paying a little bit extra on the 0%, even the little bits count!1 -
Today I was fed by my mother, so still quite a bit of roast pork to use up tomorrow. I've picked up some bits from Olio this evening, fruit for the ducks n chickens, salad for the tortoise and me, and some naan breads for the freezer. I haven't made a curry for ages so I'll do one in the week with random freezer stuff.
Oh! And I set up a pot for an emergency fund. Nothing in it yet, but we celebrate every tiny step in the right direction in this house!
I've written the emergency fund on my debt repayment document so I'll need to decide on a small target to aim for once I've hit my 4th and 5th targets with the debts.
I'm doing some uni work this evening (technically finished last year but writing something up because if I don't do it now I never will). And I'll do more tomorrow and an hour of the old/second job.
I do enjoy these long weekends off work now that I can use them well. I think I'll book some annual leave days this week to give me things to look forward to in summer.Debts 04/01/25 02/06/25

Isn't the last week before payday tricky? Psychologically, not just financially.
I've been feeling guilty about booking the weekend away, I really wanted to get the last bit of overdraft paid off before I went (so I could feel like I 'deserved' the treat). I almost used some of my dwindling house/emergency fund to clear it but glad I didn't because the car noise can no longer be ignored, it's booked in to the garage tomorrow. I'm thinking CV joint, which would cost a couple of hundred to fix. Also annoying is that I won't be able to drive to old/second job on Friday to hand my equipment back and be freed.
I should get about 150 pay tomorrow, which was meant to go back in to the house/emergency fund to pay back the money I borrowed from it for flights. So now that will go towards fixing the car.
And I've just been asked for my contribution towards the accommodation. Grrrrrr!!!! Why couldn't it all have waited one more week til payday?!?!?!?!!?!?

And we thought January was never ending!! But by heck April is having a good go at being the longest this year.
Sorry to hear about the car - this is one of my worst fears too xx2 -
There's always something. I agree that April has been longer than January!"If you can dream it, you can do it". Walt Disney2

The garage said there was nothing wrong with the car. There is, but I'll just have to take it to my preferred garage next week. That might mean I make it to payday before I have to pay for it - woohooo!!
I have stopped panicking. For now at least.
Although my washing machine has stopped spinning the water out of my clothes. Hopefully an easy fix, but I have had it 10 years and bought it second hand. I thought these things were meant to happen in threes but my car, microwave, garmin watch, and washer dryer are playing up. Maybe that means I'll be able to fix one of them.
Having the car back meant I could take my equipment back to my old/second job today and I am now finally free (to find another second job). I have treated myself to a cheap bottle of pink fizz to celebrate.
Happy weeekend!

Happy weekend, hope you can manage to fix some of the broken stuff without too much expenseDays to Orlando: 462- ☀️🎢2

It's brilliant that if you need to you can pay for car out of emergency fund rather than get in debt over it, that's a massive achievement 👏
And 🥂 to it lasting long enough for you to return the work stuff, cheap pink fizz definitely merited.
Hopefully the washing machine will benefit from a dig around and clean 🤞2 -

I've turned the pulse ox off my Grmin watch and made sure the battery level is showing on the face, so that should help me eek it out for a few more weeks at least (battery is draining in a day or two and it's not always charging correctly).
The microwave is still usable as long as I remember to put the food on the edge not in the middle and microwave for slightly longer (it's burning anything in the middle) so that should be ok for a few more weeks or maybe a month or two if it doesn't get any worse.
The car will be taken to the garage next week, that's out of my hands. I drive a lot for work so I really need a working car and if I drive it too much it will make the problem a lot worse in the long run but I can book it in for April payday.
The washing machine is on my list to have a look at today. That makes me sound like I know how to fix washing machines. I do not. But I know how to clean the filter and check the hose. So let's hope it's one of those.
In other news, I just picked up another load from Olio. Mostly stuff for the pets, but it means I don't have to go to the shop until Monday. Brunch for me was Olio eggs on toast.
I didn't go to a talk I fancied on Wednesday, and I realised one of the DD's that was showing due to go out hadn't actually gone out since 2023 so I cancelled that and from the money saved I used to reduce the overdraft by another £50. I know I've done well to reduce it by so much this year but I hadn't reduced it for a while and I was starting to feel anxious about it.
House chores, garden chores, and holiday prep is the plan for this weekend. I really need to fix up my outdoor tortoise enclosure because he'll be out there all weekend when I am away.
Ok ok I also really have to send a quote for some work that someone requested nearly 2 weeks ago and I keep putting off. It's written on here now so I can't ignore it anymore.
