Nsd#5. Not much to report here. Dreaming of sunnier days and washing drying on the line.Mortgage free wannabee 2022 #825

A slow dull day. Feeling very weak. I went to the door to collect a parcel and then shortly afterwards to collect DS3's food delivery and I needed him to hold onto me to get me back to the couch.
I have self-diagnosed another health condition. There are some steps I can take myself but I may need to sort my blood and urine tests as it could be more serious (related to meds and existing conditions). Have cut out carbonated drinks and caffeine for the past 2 days and that might be causing the extreme tiredness/ unwellness. Just as people take alcohol to boost their mood and it's actually a depressant, caffeine doesn't work the way we think it does. Far from giving us a boost of energy it depletes energy and our body demands higher and higher doses to get a reaction.
So I think it's just caffeine withdrawal and as I've done 48 hours without any (no sugar either) and my body is feeling more balanced, I've been sipping tiny amounts. No sugar at all makes my mood plummet so though my target is to get rid of both these things, I may need to add tiny amounts (I have some grapes) to balance things whilst withdrawing. So I've mostly been on the couch, relaxing but have done more bagging of all the bits I swept together yesterday. The paper and cardboard bin was collected this morning so yesterday I asked DS3 to throw down a pile of small boxes from their room and sat flattening them and removing any tape and cellophane. At least 3 huge piles were added to the bin before it went out for collection.
Started several new books. I'm about halfway through one of the new ones and a short way into 3 others (read 2 before) but forging ahead with one I started last night. Mr Builder came and spent some time drilling up bits of solid floor and through the back wall to make space for various plumbing pipes for the bathroom fittings. Hard slow work and he went home early because he was in too much pain. He says next week things will go much quicker.
Grateful for DS3 bringing my dried quilt back downstairs, getting a throw out on the line (it had a fight with some porridge oats) and clearing some space (still needs work). Tomorrow I may get out the cleaning sprays that are nearly empty and go round squirting bits of the house that need attention (if I can stand up). Yesterday I washed my hair and on Monday I finally managed to deal with a troublesome toenail (many attempts but couldn't et the right angle). So a couple of extra grooming bits done.7 -
Hugs to @grandmanerd & anyone else who needs them. Think the payment for your door is worth it @abundant1972, if it makes you safe & secure. I do Norwegian on Duolingo twice a day. Learnt it at night classes when I was 16, & have been brushing up on it (& learning more) since the beginning of last year. Hoping to go again & see my friend there, one day.
Slept really well last night. Think sleeping without a pillow is helping my neck/shoulders. Did yoga & a little Pilates, though not much floorspace, with the new bathroom door in position for chiselling out the hinges!
A good day at work. Useless co-worker was pulled up for doing things to make a situation worse, so hopefully things will be calmer over time.
Dropped sewing off on my way to.town. Walked 4 miles with work bestie, then met lots of other staff for an Indian meal. We are now on half term break, back to work on Tuesday.
Grateful for a good sleep, things being noticed & acted on at work, a nice walk & mealUse it up, wear it out
Make do or do without!
If you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours 😃

Hugs grandmanerd. Have you ever read Dopamine Detox? That talked about coming off things like caffeine and sugar amongst other stuff. I managed it for 6 weeks I think but had so much stress going on at work, and unable to access the support I needed so slipped back. But I did notice a difference. Slept better, no energy crashes etc. Stick with it of you can - if side effects get too much - you could try doing one at a time maybe. But seriously - well done. You've inspired me to dust off the book again for after I've finished 'Wicked' (which is very hard going haha).
Thanks thrifty - I thought it ('Norwegian') was some new body motion exercise I hadn't heard of as you tagged it on to yoga and pilates! I am always impressed with anyone who can speak another language. I forget the words to this one at times haha.⭐ DEBT FREE : 18/02/2025 ⭐
